new ship: Derek/Karen
Something is wrong with me. Anyone that has known me in multiple fandoms knows I have a "type" of ship I prefer. Either geeky/sweet/smitten guys who are into bitchy/tough/kickass women OR at least a true love/hate relationship.
What I don't want to see? The so unoriginal story of a boss (male) who falls in love with his very green (young) employee. Now before people throw up Connie/Cutter on Law & Order to me, I may add that particular ship was totally different. The reason I dislike the boss/employee relationships is because the balance is off. But in the case of Connie and Cutter, well, she had all the power didn't she? So that is completely different.
I don't know. I shouldn't like Derek and Karen. I could care less about watching them with their current love interests. I knew from the first episode Dev wasn't going to last past this season, though he is certainly likable. And while I'm not a fan of the Karen vs Ivy dynamic thing they have going here, I think Ivy/Derek is a good example of how irritating a couple can be when the balance is off. At least tonight Ivy showed some gumption with Derek when she told him to be nice to Karen, but since that was more about playing Karen rather than matching wits with Derek, it doesn't count here.
WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME? But the look Derek gave to Karen after Rebecca walked in....I knew I was hooked and now I know I'm screwed.
