So my bank today gave me a very surprising (and welcome) offer.
Wells Fargo is very very tired of internet scammers and ID thieves stealing money from their account holders. So they are offering a free second checking account (with debit card) for making online purchaces only.
When you go to buy an item online, you tranfer only the amount of money you need to make the purchace into your secondary account. That way, if you go get hacked, all that the scammers get is an account with only a small amount of your money in it.
Will it be foolproof? Who knows, but it's an added layer between the bulk of your money and the thieves out there trying to get it. And it beats having to have your main account frozen for possibly weeks while the bank tries to recover your money!
Ask your bank if they're doing the same.
