So I was up really late last night looking through some of my old lj posts, and I found this gem of an entry. It really made me nostalgic for freshman year and the way BUDDR and all of my friends used to be. I don't know if it's me changing, them changing, or some combination of the two, but I really miss these days.
I'll leave my present comments in bold within the entry.

Hey all (not Y'all, that's not a word Chris), how is everyone? Haven't wrote for a while, so I thought I'd give "The State of the Brendan" address. Here goes.
Friday night I skipped Anime Club to instead go to MIT w/the DDR Club. This was ridiculously fun and I'm glad I decided to go. Anime club is fun, but the people there just aren't as friendly or nice as the people at DDR Club. That and if I'm going to use up a Friday night I might as well be exercising too...
Oh, and for those who don't remember... the wind on Friday? HORRENDOUS!! I really do remember this, I was literally afraid of drowning to death that night. Little did I know that I'd make that walk a few more times in my BU career, some with even worse weather conditions O__O Walking to MIT over the Mass Ave Bridge? Almost fell in the damn river! Man, that would have made my week.
That night I had "some fun" with the house friends and we stayed up really late (4:00, which is late for everyone else... kinda normal for me, though). I woke up around 1:00 the next day and didn't accomplish a whole lot. Ate lunch, played some Stepmania, did some laundry, and prepped the room for Brad's arrival later that night. Parker got here around 7:30 and we went over to the Beijing Cafe to eat. For 2 large meals it was only $12.50. The price was amazing! I'm definitely going back there sometime.AHAHAHAHA I HAVEN'T BEEN THERE 30 TIMES OR ANYTHING Later that night we "hung out" some more and played some poker... played ridiculously well the whole night, but once the "candy" finally set in I played 4 bad hands in a row and went from immense chip leader to 3rd... one spot away from the money. *sigh*That game of poker sucked, I got fully drunk right before I was about to take Catherine out, then I started making bad decisions that descended into terrible decisions
This was again a late night. Brad and I woke up around 12:00 and went to eat with him, Natalie, and Chris around 1:15. Brad had to leave from the dining hall, but it was all good. When I got back I had to go into full work mode, as I had 2 papers due the next day (today, actually)... a 5 page for writing and a 1 page for Spanish.
At first I read the play Lysistrata between watching snipets of the random football game that was on Fox (Philly vs. Pitts?). Between 5 and 6 I managed to write 3 solid pages, which was pretty good. I then decided that I needed a break, so I head over to the CAS building and caught the last hour of DDR Club. Got to play a few fun songs, and then we headed over to Taco Bell afterwards...
Oh, Taco Bell...
Todd (friend from Northeastern)LOL I thought your name was Todd!!! Sorry Tom, I won't do that ever again ^^; and I decided that we were hungry... very hungry, in fact... so we decided to split the "Grande Combo." For those of you not fluent in Bellenese, it's your choice of 10 soft tacos, hard tacos, or bean burritos (you can mix and match also). I decided to get 3 soft tacos and 2 bean burritos.this was back when you still ate meat Tom.. ah the good ole days, what happened... :P
Oh fuck... I should have been fine... and I was, until I saw SumiLMAO I wasn't very good with names.. I'm surprised I got it that close, but wow... just wow take down a gordita with FIFTEEN...yes, FIFTEEN packets of fire sauce on it.We both recollect this moment, he to this day claims it was terrible not b/c of the taste, but b/c it basically turned his gordita into soup I still had 6 packets of fire sauce and one soft taco left, and if there is anything I hate it's wasting perfectly good Taco Bell.
The first half of the taco wasn't too hard to digest... after that, though, it hit me. What would have taken under a minute earlier in the meal now took about a half an hour... in fact, I had to be bribed with ramune to even finish it... def the most painful 3 bites in my existence. Not to pester, but I don't think I ever got that ramune you promised, Julie. You still owe me ;D
I go into my room that night, remembering that I still have a butt load of work to do, and tell my roommates, "Hey, could you do me a favor and not mention Mexican food for the next week or so?"
"Dude, tomorrow is Mexican Fiesta Day at lunch."I think I stuck with the sandwiches and salads that day
I almost lost it right there
Luckily the stuff digested overnight and I was able to eat dinner... I just stayed away from the tacos and burritos.
As for that night, I was up until 4:30 finishing those 2 papers. I took a random trip to 7-11 with my buddy Steve at 2:30 to get my mind off of the soon-to-be-started Spanish paper, which ended up working really well. Lost on a $2 scratch ticket tho, damns.
Today was rather uneventful. Woke up really tired, worked for a couple of hours (and saw someone that I didn't want to remember... IM me if you want to know who), went to Writing, talked and ate with Vinny and Natalie at lunch, went to Spanish, went to eat, and then pretty much just IMed and played StepMania in between random bouts of MVP Baseball I played it a lot sophomore year too.. '06 KC Royals, AL Champs!!! and Greg giving me a call. A semi-wasted day, but I deserved it after last night's fiasco.
Well, tomorrow is technically Thursday according to BU, so I only have one class (w00t, w00t!... or, wewt, wewt!)Fake Thursdays, WTF is this? I don't even remember that!! Even better, there's no class on Thursday cause of Veteran's Day, so I'm looking forward to that. DDR Club is heading over to MIT again on Thursday Afternoon, so I'll probably join them again... have a ton of great friends in that club, can't wait to see them again.
That seems to be about it. Oh, and I suggest that everyone (well, not the BU friends... sorry guys, but she doesn't know who you are) calls Sammi and just talk with her. I can't imagine how she must feel right now, so the least that we can do is to talk with her... not necessarily call to console her, just talk normally to get her mind off of the situation. It's the best thing we can do right now.yeah, that's how old it is.. back when Sammi and Kris were broken up for those couple of weeks. hard to believe it was that long ago, but good to see that they're still going strong now :D
I hope you're feeling better Sammi! I still love you (in that big brother/friend sort of way)!
And with that, I am off...

Holy fuck, my mind went numb after I read that. It feels like I watched all of it in a movie and am recollecting the events in my mind as though they actually happened.. yet they did happen, to me, less than 2 years ago. It's all so surreal!
I'm hoping for a lot of comments on this one, a lot of people were mentioned in it. Anyone else have any fond memories of freshman year?
Peace out everyone
Brendan
