frictional drag- the resistance created by an animals body surface when it moves through a fluid meduim.

form drag- hydodynamic drag on an organism caused by its cross-sectional area.

turbulance- random, nonlaminar flow of a fluid.

aspect radio- index of propulsive efficency obtained by the dividing the square of a fish's fin hight by the fin area

pleopods- abdominal paired appendages in crustaceans.

finlets- a small median fin on the dorasal and ventral sides of th rear parts of the tuna and simialr fishes.

caudal peduncle- the area where the caudal fin joins the rest of the fish's body.

schools- a well-defined social organization of marine animals consisting of a single species with all memebers of a similar size.
