"Watson, what on earth is that...thing on your shoulder? And what are you doing in our rooms with it?"

"It's a parrot."

"I can see that. It looks dead."

"It is dead. It's stuffed."

"But why are you wearing it?

"I'm practicing. It's part of my costume for tonight. I'm taking Mary to a costume party and I'm going as a pirate. Yarrrgh! How do I sound?"

"Dreadful. Can I see the rest of your costume?"

"Of course. Here, hold Chauncy while I change."

"Chauncy."

"The parrot, Holmes."

"If you insist. Do hurry back."

"Well, now, what do you think?"

"Oh, my - just my. You do look dashing, Watson. That shirt! And - ahem - open like that. And your...large...sword....and....Do come here, dear boy. "

"Holmes, what are you...mmmph! Mind the parrot!"

"But I'm going to be late for the party."
