(no subject)
Maybe I've been in the Rurouni Kenshin fandom to long, but I was thinking about the Kenshin/Tomoe/Kaoru relationship. Now, I love Kaoru, really - she's awesome and kickass and a great character, though I kind of dislike it when her only purpose in a fight is to stand on the sidelines and shout 'Kenshin' - but Tomoe is my favorite female character.
Ever.

I was intrigued when we first saw her ghost behind Enishi, and excited when I learned she was Kenshin's wife - and then the flashback started. I liked her when she entered the teahouse - what an entrance, she wasn't even trying to have every man there look at her, but they did (yeah, I'm shallow).
Then she was saved by Kenshin (yeah, go Kenshin!) and went to thank him - and said the line that made my heart stop.
"In these tragic times, they often say 'and a rain of blood fell'...but you really made it rain blood."
I was in love.
I could tell you more about my love for Tomoe - seriously, I can go on forever about this girl - but that's not what I was thinking about. See, one of the main reasons some Kenshin/Kaoru fans (note I said some) dislike Tomoe is that they somehow feel that she is 'stealing' Kenshin from Kaoru.
First time I heard that my reaction was basically OMGWTFBBQ!!!!!!
Tomoe is dead! D-E-D Dead (as Jim Butcher would say). How exactly is she stealing Kenshin? Kaoru herself likes Tomoe - she thanks her for looking over her when she was with Enishi, and asks her to leave Kenshin to her, and Tomoe's spirit tells Kenshin to wake up and go get Kaoru, because she's waiting for him! Hell, if Tomoe hadn't taught Kenshin about true happiness and how important life was, he would never have become the Rurouni we all know and love, so would likely never have met Kaoru!
*deep breaths, deep breaths* it's okay, I'm calm.
Ranty moment over.
So I was thinking about this, and the fact people apparently can't like both loves of a love triangle, even when one is dead, and it hit me - If the Jinchuu flashback (what I refer to as the bakumatsu arc or remembrance arc) had been longer or more in depth, or (and the very idea makes me squee) the entirety of a manga itself - people would be bashing Kiyosato. I mean, he's in the same boat as Tomoe - both dead when the other two member of the 'triangle' meet, the reason the other two members meet, and quite a nice guy - but he would be bashed. And then, of course, there would be the Kiyosato/Tomoe shippers who would bash Kenshin. And the Kiyosato/Kenshin shippers (though now that I think about it, they would be awfully pretty together...)
Now I want this Manga. It wuold be, like, a better version of the OVA, which was excellent as it was.
Also, I was reading a pokemon fanfic and got a really crazy idea - Kenshin Pokemon, in a world where all the Kenhsin men are pokemon, and all the women are trainers.
Tomoe would be a trainer, and Kiyosato, Enishi and Katsura would be her pokemon, and she'd come across the legendary pokemon Battousai, who would stay with her as a partner, not a pokemon, and would kick the asses of all the other pokemon...
