the slowest week ever.

i can't believe how slow this week has felt. it's amazing to me how quickly time can fly when i'm at school; most times, i'm so swamped in work that i freak out because i feel like there isn't enough time to do it all. and then suddenly the world goes central time on my ass and everything feels like a tape being played at half-speed.

i've done things during this break to pass the time that i never do when i'm at school (mostly because i rarely have time to "pass.") these things include:

--playing insane amounts of scrabulous on facebook, sometimes against people i haven't talked to or seen in years. i clicked and clicked and clicked and found some stats page on the scrabulous page that shows who plays the most scrabble, who's gotten the highest-scoring words, etc. wanna hear something that'll make you feel good? the most amount of facebook scrabulous games played by anyone is 51,277. wanna hear something that'll make you feel bad about yourself? lots of people have gotten words totaling 200 points (sequoias, facetious, abnormity, beziques, terminologies, ashplant, blitzkrieg, romantic, fabulous, generalisations.) i didn't even know blitzkrieg was a word unless it referred to the, um, bop. but yeah, let's not focus on how our words are a measely 30 points--let's choose to focus instead on how none of us has played over 50,000 games of facebook scrabble and probably never will.

--watching "frasier." for some reason, i only feel a compelling need to watch "the golden girls" (during all 6 times slots a day) when i'm at school, not when i'm at home. maybe because it makes me miss boston. watching that show is usually the tv-comfort food equivalent of mashed potatoes but it doesn't make me feel any better when i'm here, even though it's here that i'm generally most in need of comfort. ironic. anyway, i'm feeling a similar addiction to "frasier" this week...even the old episodes where kelsey grammar has hair and looks sort of like sideshow bob.

--taking baths (and showers.) enjoying hygiene. definitely something i don't enjoy at school in those creepy, prison-like, hair-caked showers. ew.

it's been torture not having anywhere in particular to go when i wake up or anyone to see. there's no reason to wear makeup. no reason to wear jewelry. no reason to make sure my socks match. and yet, i'm not completely anxious to go back to school...anything is better than sitting through yiddish culture and sociology of law.

1. i got a 172 on my practice lsat yesterday.
2. i had really good black bean soup tonight, as well as a delicious glass of shiraz.
3. i only have one more chapter in my insufferable sociology textbook to read.

things that make me happy, school, texas
