Suddenly
Somehow or another, my remote 'screen' session got really hung up and unresponsive... and so did any other attempt to log in. So I sftp'd in and renamed my .login file and was then able to successfully log in via SSH. So, now to clean up. kill -HUP/kill -9 each process that wasn't on my tty.
In that other, frozen-stuck terminal window, screen had this to say:
Suddenly the Dungeon collapses!! - You die...
