Up 'Til Dawn: a fundraiser for St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital
Hey guys, Klayr (Apollo/Shuraiya) here. I've got something of an unorthodox request for you here, but I've gotten permission from carnality to pose a question (well, more like beg) to all of you here.
Now, I'm participating tonight in an activity called Up 'Til Dawn, which is an event that raises money for the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, located in Memphis, Tennessee.
St. Jude is the largest childhood cancer research center in the world, and ground-breaking research findings at St. Jude are shared with doctors and scientists all over the world. The hospital's daily operating costs are over $1 million per day, which are primarily covered by public contributions (from programs such as Up 'til Dawn). St. Jude is the only pediatric cancer research center where families never pay for treatments that are not covered by insurance, and families without insurance are never asked to pay.
Basically, what we're to do is spend all night (from 4:00pm - 12:00am) writing letters and asking for donations for the hospital. My university has held the top spot as the highest earning college campus in the U.S. for the last three years, and as such, they're... well, really hardcore about this. Each student has been asked to bring fifty addresses tonight, and as it stands, I only have... five.
Let me make it very clear that I'm not asking for any money from any of you. I am only asking for your addresses so I can send you letters -- it's your choice to donate or not, and I'll never know if you did or didn't. I won't release your addresses to anybody, and they will only be used for this and this alone -- I'll be shredding my address lists after tonight, so don't worry about confidentiality. I really appreciate your help, guys, 'cause I really, really want that damn free t-shirt I signed up for. ♥
