Good day, duckies!
Thank you for all of your patience and support during this transitional period. The mods have been continuing to work hard to transfer everything over to Dreamwidth and update all the links and make your new home ready for you to fly over and settle into.
This morning, Denise at Dreamwidth announced on the news post that community imports for communities over 100,000 comments are now open, and that communities of our huge size should be able to start importing within a week. Exciting!
As such, and because we don't want to draw out the transition any longer than we have to, our official moving date will be January 15, 2012.
What you need to do - CHECK IN
First, make character accounts on Dreamwidth for your characters, if you haven't already. Account creation on Dreamwidth is still open and invite-free, so take advantage of it.
Go to the new (combined!!!!)
Taken Characters List and make a comment with:
- Your name
- Your LJ character usernames
- Your new Dreamwidth usernames
This will help us to ensure that all characters that are transitioning over are captured, and that if any usernames have changed that the taken list reflects that change.
Also, please add yourself to the new
Player Contact Directory, since we're restarting that with the move.
Please make sure that you check in before January 15th if possible. This check-in is replacing the January Activity Check and is vital for our housekeeping. We don't want to remove any characters by accident. If you are late and we remove your character, don't panic! Just contact a mod and we will fix it. You won't have to re-app, but please please try to get it done ASAP to avoid confusion and scrambling or delays in your ability to play.
Characters who are on hiatus right now will be exempt and WILL NOT be dropped even if they don't check in now. If anyone currently on hiatus is actually not making the jump to Dreamwidth, they have to be captured at the next Activity Check in March. However, if you are on hiatus and have a chance to do so, it would be really helpful if you would check in anyway.
Once you've checked in, please join all the communities and we will approve you. The names of the communities on Dreamwidth are the same as on Livejournal, and are listed on the
profile of the main community as always.
As a note, when we finish check-in, we'll do a big FA/RL so everyone can add everyone. There's no limit to the number of friend adds you can do on Dreamwidth, so you'll be able to add all the journals at once and be up to date.
What you can do if you want - EVENT
OOCly: We see no particular reason why you can't all start playing on Dreamwidth as soon as you've been approved to post in the comms. There are many people who are having trouble accessing Livejournal or simply don't want to, so let's not make them wait to play any longer. Please feel free to break in the new site and start making new posts there, rather than on the Livejournal site!
However, if for whatever reason you aren't ready to start playing on Dreamwidth yet, you can still continue to make posts on Livejournal until January 15th. The game on Livejournal will be considered closed on January 15th and a post will be made reflecting that, which will direct people to the new game on Dreamdwidth.
That being said, you can continue to back-tag in comments for as long as you like, so long as everyone involved in the thread agrees. We would encourage people to switch backtagging over to Dreamwidth once comments are imported, however.
ICly: Due to the sudden downswing in functionality on Livejournal and all the problems, someone has tried to fix the community. Several someones. In fact, all the someones. If your character has any kind of hacking or computer ability, they may have tried to fix the site, and chaos has ensued. The result has been that many characters' accounts have been moved from Livejournal to Dreamwidth, and more characters' accounts are getting moved all the time.
How. Strange.
Feel free to have your characters speculate and accuse one another of screwing up the community over the Christmas holiday to your hearts' content. Maybe your character really did cause problems, or maybe they were drunk and had no idea there was an issue at all, but find the blame dropped in their laps.
For those who are less tech-savvy, do your characters like the new service? Clearly we haven't had enough OOC discussion of this, it's time to make endless lists of LJ vs. DW pros and cons ICly now.
So is that it?
That's it!
