ARRIVALS / CRASHERS. vonkarmas October 12 2009, 00:32:46 UTC
[ Say hello to the main couple or the daughter of this household. They will show you where the party is at. Unless you're a crasher, to which we'll be ignoring you. And then once that's all done, go out and mingle with the other guests. ]

Even as he enters the mansion's exquisite anteroom, his doubts continue to needle him incessantly. Every shred of common sense he possesses tells him there's nothing for him here--not in this house, not under these circumstances. Only one thing has brought him here, and only his stubbornness is allowing him to stay and fulfill his illusionary obligations.

While Edgeworth wasn't the type to show deference to anyone, his mentor had been sure to instill in him the proper respect for his adopted family. Despite the overwhelming urge to slip unnoticed into an unoccupied section of the estate, he pauses in the entrance, surveying the small groups of newly arrived partygoers in search of the lady of the house. Entering her home on a formal occasion without due ceremony would be out of the question.

Franziska walks up and down the halls of her home, attending to each guest like a perfect hostess would. She holds herself up high in a distinct haughtiness as she greets and directs them to the other areas of her home. Continuing the act of the perfect host, Franziska moves towards the entranceway to welcome the oncoming surge of guests. However, she soon spots her younger brother, Miles; standing quite still on his lonesome.

His presence steals her attention away from the crowd and she takes a few short strides to reach him. Even if she didn’t know him, the sense of discomfort he elicited was undeniable. And Franziska knew why.

“I’m so glad you could make it, little brother,” she greets. But she knows that the feeling isn’t exactly mutual. He was still under the impression that this was all me kind of... delusion.

"I could hardly refuse one of your invitations, sister." The greeting is accompanied by a graceful half bow...and if his shoulders remain stiff and his back a bit too straight as he finishes the gesture, his tone is still congenial enough.

"I trust the celebration is going well."

OUTSIDE AREA - POOL. vonkarmas October 12 2009, 00:33:35 UTC
[ Waiters walk to and fro with drinks and hors d'oeuvre on their platters. There's a big-ass pool which you can jump in to walk by and an open bar over there too. ]

After cornering a waiter and lightening his load considerably, Death stands at the edge of the pool, snacking on bacon-wrapped scallops and looking down at her blurry reflection in the water.

It's not surprising that Edgeworth's uneasy wanderings would lead him to the pool. During the Von Karma family's rare stays in their Los Angeles home, he'd spent a great deal of his time there, attempting to work out his tensions with a rigorous exercise routine.

The pool area is unchanged, the water as inviting as it ever was. The only addition appears to be the petite girl standing at the pool's edge. There's a familiar air about her, but it takes him a moment to place her.

Apparently her photos weren't simply in black and white.

He approaches cautiously, stopping at the edge of the pool a few feet away. Mimicking her posture, he stares across the water, sipping occasionally at the glass of champagne he still carries.

Her skin is impossibly white, as though she were a marble statue given life. Something appears to have been lost in translation, and it's not Death's horse that's pale. She turns to Edgeworth with the warm smile of someone greeting a dear friend after a long separation, and her eyes are bright and as deep as the sky.

"Hello, Miles. Scallop?" Death offers him her plate.

OUTSIDE AREA - GARDEN. vonkarmas October 12 2009, 00:34:03 UTC
[ Look, a lovely flower garden that you can explore in the afternoon/moonlight. It's situated a bit further from the Von Karma estate and overlooks their oceanic view. What a very, very romantic atmosphere. ]

[Like a good waifu that he is, Byakuya is as far away as possible from Aizen and everyone else. Usually the noble wouldn't even be here, but someone is now the trophy wife of a monomaniacal sociopath. He approves of the garden and of the manor in general, it isn't as vast as the Kuchiki estate, but it's well managed and the garden is very beautiful.

HERE IS HOPING THAT NO ONE NOTICES HIM B|]

INSIDE AREA - ENTERTAINMENT ROOM. vonkarmas October 12 2009, 00:34:35 UTC
[ The room has been cleared of any menacing furniture. In its place is one of the couple's favorite orchestra band playing a nice array of songs. Guests have plenty of room to dance and to socialize. ]

Kuroro stood to one side of the room, gently swaying his fingers to the music. He did appreciate an orchestra. He'd dressed for the occasion, but it wasn't actually that far a cry from what he usually wore. Wearing what looked like a Military dress uniform complete with a Big red coat, he certainly looked like a commander or a boss. But thanks to the fact that he was shirtless, with his coat open, he was also a heartbreaker.

Whilst his plan was to get a feel for the mansion to see if it was worth raiding the place at a later date, he was currently just looking for someone to be his toy for the evening. The music was fine, but he would so much more like to play with someone.

Perhaps the music hid her footsteps, or perhaps she had dispensed with formalities like crossing the distance between from the door, but Death was suddenly there, perched on a chair with her head propped in her hands, listening intently to the orchestra. When the piece concluded, she looked up and smiled at Kuroro, waving with a ripple of her fingers.

Kuroro was instantly struck by mixed feelings when he saw her appear. He had wanted their first face to face meeting to be more romantic than this. And she would just happen to be the one person on the community he didn't want to be his toy, right when he felt like playing. But still, he was happy to see her. He hadn't felt anything like this since he was a child. That's what he felt like, a child on Christmas Eve. He'd never had anything more than a dead dog to chew on for Christmas, so it wasn't quite the same feeling, but still.

He gave a small smile back and waved.
"Hello."
Oh god, why was it so hard to be charming when you actually cared what the other person thought about you? And all the conventional options seemed so inappropriate. Why ask Death herself how business was going, or how her health was? Oh hell. Just go for it.
"You look magnificent."

INSIDE AREA - GUEST BEDROOMS. vonkarmas October 12 2009, 00:35:24 UTC
[ There are twelve guest bedrooms on the upper level but the main one (Phoenix's and Franziska's) and Pearl's is locked. All rooms are ensuites with grand bathrooms and have a comfortable king-sized bed. You're all married, aren't you? This is the perfect place for privacy and for you to do... each other things. ]

TL;DR ahoy! Franzy, hope this description meshes okay with your bedroom plan. samriprosecutor October 13 2009, 04:17:24 UTC
As with every other bedroom that he’d ever called his own, the large room on the second floor, only a short distance from the master bedroom, stirred in Edgeworth a confused mixture of contradictory emotions. In the daytime it had often served as a refuge, a haven of the kind of illusory privacy that one was limited to in the von Karma household. Dread was reserved solely for the dead of night, for his frequent spells of insomnia broken by equally frequent nightmares ( ... )

Unable to stand the pain any longer, Phoenix momentarily excused himself from the party below and headed upstairs to change into some older shoes. They might not go perfectly with his suit, but he was willing to risk Franziska turning her nose up at them (and possibly whipping him) for the ability to move two steps without wincing.

As he passed by the closed doors of the guest bedrooms, he paid little mind to what might be on the other side of them; while he and Franziska did have guests over, he hadn't actually entertained the possibility of anyone sneaking up here for some private time, so it was surprising when he found one of the doors at the end of the hall open, casting light into the hallway.

Slowing his pace, he stopped just before the doorway and leaned over, peering inside.

What he found there was even more surprising.

"...Edgeworth?"

Edgeworth's back stiffened as the familiar voice interrupted his survey of his equally familiar surroundings. He turned toward the door, shooting the intruder an almost guilty look…a look which eventually stretched into a full-on stare.

This was the first he’d seen of Wright that day. He’d managed to make it to the evening without having to suffer through any awkward encounters with the man, and as a consequence had missed Wright’s ensemble until now.

Perhaps his dear sister’s influence had done Wright some good after all.

The falter didn’t last long. Soon enough Edgeworth was nodding to his friend, gesturing him in with a sweep of his open palm.

“Wright.”
