Lets start this post off with some current events:

"Self-portrait upon hearing that Jim was quitting TripiQ"

-Oil on canvas board, 16x20, painted by: Vaughn Bocchino

Price: $100.00

=The title is pretty self explanatory as to the mood of this painting. I wasn't hurt when he left. I wasn't surpised. I was just blank. As a fun sidenote, James (Jim) Spagnola is still a regular at the gallery and critiqued this painting.

"Something less than Jasper Johns"

-Acrylic and staind glass on masonite, 16x20 (framed), Painted by: Vaughn Bocchino

Price: $100.00

=Jasper Johns is easily one of my favorite artists. He is a living legend. He inspires new abstracts by supporting how we oppose the bland "couch art" of Thomas Kinkade and the like, guest starring on The Simpsons to get his message out, and remarking in recent interviews that "We (himself and Robert Rauschenberg) may be old, but we're not done yet." This painting is an homage to his famous "Target Series".

"Sunflower/Moonflower"

-Oil and colored foil on canvas board, 16x20, Painted by: James Spagnola

Price: $75.00

=Before leaving TripiQ to pursue a family life, James gave me full selling rights to ALL of his paintings. I've got tons of awesome stuff never seen before. This is one of them.

"Reclining Female"

-Oil on canvas, 24x36 (framed), Painted by: Yuri Ozaki.

Price: $250.00

=Yes, this is the same Yuri Ozaki of the popular abstract "Mudai series". Didn't know she was such a threat did ya'? I love this piece because it is a gorgeous reminder that good abstracts are classically trained artists that reject accepted aestetic theories.

----------------------------------------

"Reclining Male"

-Charcoal on paper, 16x20 (framed), drawn by: Stephen Horwitz

Price: $75.00

=I hang this drawing next to Yuri's painting in the gallery for obvious reasons. They are such a beautiful contrast. Stephen is an extremely talented block printer and I am honored to have one of his figure studies. I would pay the $75.00 myself if I didn't have to make a rent payment.

-----------------------------

-Untitled- (infinite sadness)

-Mixed media on masonite, 22x28 (framed), Painted by: Christina Saunders

Price: $125.00

=Christina invited me over to her house one night for beers and art-talk and as soon as I walked in, I saw this painting. There is a simplicity to it that is almost gut punching. The little clips of words are a perfect biography of a twenty-something, single mother struggling as an artist. I wish I could get a better photo of this painting so that you could read the words...but I am a painter, not a photographer.

"Exploding head"

-Acrylic on a book cover, 9x12, Painted by: J-Chot.

Price: $20.00

=This dude continues to amaze me with his weirdness and artistic talent. "Exploding Head" is just another example of this. I can honestly tell you that I have no idea what is going on in this painting, but for some reason I am drawn to it.
