Last week in review

I didn't do very much during the week - still mentally recovering from marathon season.  Monday rest, Tuesday Trizones strength/swim, Wed long dog walk, Thu easy indoor bike 30 minute spin, Fri rest.  Most of that was hardly worth mentioning.

Saturday Tiny and I did the Rosedale Ride with Jeff.  We chose the 32 mile distance, as we were time constrained, and I was just as happy to have a reason since my longest previous ride this year was 17 miles last week.  I didn't want the last 5 miles to be a "death march".  Saw
shubbe,
xomox,
traininglog,
cam_ray and of course
anetmarie with all the Trizones gang at the start.  We started out with the Trizoners gang but slowly separated until Jeff & I were riding only with
pammyaggie & Tom.  We skipped the first rest stop because it was not even 9 miles into the ride and it was crowded.  Pam and Tom were planning on doing the 46 miler, but they changed their mind at the decision point due to time away from home vs. cost of babysitter and we all stuck together.  We felt like we were working hard and going really fast, but our average speed was only 14.1.  I guess we can blame the wind for that.  Stopped at the second rest stop and got cookies, bananas, gatorade and a portopotty stop.  Then we finished it out (last 5 miles were annoyingly uphill and windy, but not quite death-march-qualifying) and we were back at the start at around 11.

I think Tiny is fitting well.  Strange thing - my arms were so tired when we finished!  I was having trouble holding them up to dry my hair!  I guess I'm leaning more forward so using arms more.  I wasn't even in my aerobars very much - too crowded.  My wrists were very tired too.  And I was ready to get off of that saddle.  I think it's a good saddle, I just need more time in it.

Then we went home, cleaned up, and headed to Houston for a quick overnight stay at my brother's new house.  He was kind enough to offer us his big beautiful TV that wasn't working out in the new house so we wanted to get it out of his way as soon as possible.  This involved renting a minivan since neither of our cars could handle the job.

Got back to Austin at around noon Sunday.  Unloaded the TV, returned the van, got some lunch, and decided I didn't have time to go to the Trizones meeting to discuss goals and races for the season.  I would have had to leave too early to make it to Air Scenting Class #2.  So I lounged at home briefly and then loaded Lexi in the car for class.  It was another good session.  Lexi thinks this is the greatest.  She gets treats just for going up to people!  How easy is that?!  No jumping or tunnelling or A-framing or weave-poling or any of that ridiculous agility stuff.  She just has to find the person with the treats!!

Finally got home and relaxed for the evening.  Ahhhhh.

bicycling, weekend, dogs
