Trail running race reports

I didn't post a race report for The Maze, since nothing very interesting happened.  I did PR by about 9 minutes from the last time I ran this race a couple of years ago.  Mostly due to trying to hang on to shubbe and her friend Robin.  I hung on for about 4 miles and then got that hot chilly feeling and ran/walked it in the rest of the way.

I didn't post ( Read more... )

I want to hear about the 9 minute PR! leahruns April 11 2011, 13:11:13 UTC
Please tell me all about the good stuff, too. It's not boring!

I should've warned you about the change to the end. I thought I had mentioned something about it being hard because you run by the finish and then come back slightly uphill (I thought) but I didn't tell you that the little hill was gone. My bad.

That's still a good race, Pam. You recouped well from a spill and chalked up another finish. Trail running is all about being able to use your smarts to modify for what the race/trail brings on that day.

Your last two trail events were PRs (by time and a new event & location). I can't wait to read your next race report, good or not-so-good. Happy running!!!

Aw Leah! You make me smile. And while I didn't think about it in the moment, I know now that it was your wisdom that inspired me to not go to an unhappy place in my head, but to think about how I could make it a good race despite any setbacks. Thank you for being such a good example!

We didn't mean to abandon you! I actually thought I'd lost everyone almost immediately, and then after a while realized everyone was still right behind me. Then Julie charged ahead, Catherine stuck behind me, and we realized a few minutes later we'd lost sight of you. Doh.

It may not have been the race you envisioned, but you pulled it together when things went south, you gained a lot of mental strength, and you'll have a great story-telling scar!

Congratulations on all 3 of your recent trail victories!

No abandonment issues! tripam April 13 2011, 02:43:52 UTC
It was my own fault I lost y'all. I wasn't aggressive enough to keep others from jumping in ahead of me. I didn't expect anybody to wait for me! Thanks though!
