1930s Fun

The opportunity to go to a 30s Murder Mystery High Tea came up, and since I didn't have a suitable dress, I figured it was the ideal time.  I had a repro pattern that fits me from the late 30s... and it was a UFO from about a year ago.

Woohoo, that's another one done.

So I made this...

It's beautifully made (although it needs an iron hehe), and it's pretty.... But it looks HIDEOUS on me.  There's not enough shaping in the waist, the skirt doesn't fit well, the colour isn't good on, it's just bleh.

So I put my disappointment aside and started over...  I did some research into styles, and found these to inspire me..

I found a modern pattern I bought a while ago, that I had thought had vintage lines.  Turns out they're very similar to these above!  So I figured why not, and used a modern pattern to make a vintage style.

I had it made in an afternoon, so I think I'll be making another of these.  Now I just need to get around to making a suitable hat.  I have something that kinda works, but it's not really my first choice!

Now off to get some other things done..
