Although I think "kinda" is being generous.. haha
So last year I bought a bunch of fabrics from which to make an amazing Victorian Period Masquerade Costume, based on a fashion plate.
Only, I couldn't get what I wanted in natural fibres, other than the cotton velveteen. I bought a faux silk that really isn't a bad faux silk, and I have some other pieces that tone in with it.
It's going to be alot of work, and I'm becoming a bit of a snob in my old age (I'm over 40 now so I'm calling myself old), so I'm contemplating the thought that I'd really rather get silk, even though it's more than double what I've already paid. Which is why I think I'm stupid. I also need to have sequin net, and I was hoping I could just buy some (not the glued on stuff, real sequin!), but that's proving difficult.
THEN, there's cast pieces on this frock, and I have some sculpy and a mould to make them, but part of me wants to do it more historically accurately (but how?).... Not to mention it has an accessory that I can make the way I would usually make them, but is that accurate?
So, do I even TRY and be completely accurate given all of the above, or do I just make a cool costume?
