Winning so far...

So it may not seem like I have gotten far, but it'll be all systems go from here on in.

I just got back from one of my local haunts... One I get alot of my fabrics from, the other is where I get my haby and notions.  It just seems to be the way it works! I'm going to show you what I'm doing first...  I'm making this... out of the fabric on the right.

I am aboiut to do a pleated bit for the skirt, which will be one tier, rather than the three in the picture.  Then I'll finish the overskirt and move onto the the bodice with the peplum.

Oh!  The winning!  I went to one of my local haunts to get some pre-made brown bias and possibly piping.  But, I've managed to come away with a lovely purple/pink shade, which goes beautifully.  The fringe will still be brown, but I'm working the pink in as well to pretty it up a bit.  I got pre-piped trim, binding and some extra for the poof trim.  All exactly the same shade, so yay me!

I have mocked everything up, so it SHOULD be fairly straight forward.  I hope.  Either way, it's going to be a late night and possibly early morning.  I have at least made a hat, and I'll just need to trim it.  I pulled apart a sombrero again, sewed it back together, steamed it to shape, dampened it, and tied it up to let it dry in the shape I wanted...  I need to trim off a bunch of threads, but it's ready to trim.

I'm basing this on something from one of my books, which I haven't scanned/photographed.  It'll be covered in ribbons, flowers, and birds, so you shouldn't see that there are some dodgy bits in this.  I really shouldn't make hats at 1am. haha...

Now it's onto ironing the pleats.

More later!
