So 2 weekends ago now, the week after Steamfest, I went back to the 15th Century again.
My 15th Century reenactment group runs "Storia", a public free event involving eating, drinking, archery, sleeping and ALOT of laughing. We invite other groups along as well, and we have a blast. Due to Steamfest and being back at work, I missed the cooking day and the set up/pack down, but I tried to help out as much as possible with meals etc.
Friday night I arrived and set up my bed. MAN WAS IT COLD. I was warm when I went to bed, but I progressively got colder. At around 10pm, I was cold to the bone, so I went up and had a hot shower, then announced I was going home to my bed where it was warm. It truly was warmer - about 10 degrees warmer at home (only 20mins away). I returned first thing in the morning with every single warm blanket in the house (other than those on the bed for teh hubby), which I shared with my tentmate.
The big thing I did over the weekend? Archery! Gave myself a HUGE bruise (string slapping against my arm), which has only just finished fading. And I got some photos of me shooting both days...
I'm still not very good, but I honestly don't get alot of time to practice. Hopefully before HA and Abbey next year, I'll get the chance to do enough practice that I can enter archery comps.
I also had my photo taken by a couple of photographers that were invited out to Storia...
This is by far my favourite - taken by Greg Hudson (linked to more photos!)
And there's a bunch from Allan Nielson as well, my favourite being us having dinner...
