That meme thing

Everyone else is doing it, so I figured I should, too. Nothing like jumping on a bandwagon, huh?

You start with "6 weird habits/things about yourself" and people who get tagged need to write about their 6 weird habits/things as well as include these instructions. In the end, you need to choose the next 6 people to be tagged and list their names.

1. I hate abbreviations and shortened words, especially in speech. For example, when I'm talking about BSG, I almost always call it "Battlestar Galactica" or "Galactica" even though most everyone else just says "BSG." The only reason I type "BSG" rather than 'Galactica" is because I forced myself to get used to it, but I still hate it. I tolerate people calling me by the shortened version of my first name rather than my full first name, but only because literally everyone does it. But when asked, I request to be called by my full first name. Same thing with being called "Trin" rather than 'Trinity." Although "Trin" sounds okay to my ears, so I don't dislike it as much as the shortened version of my real name. Plus, I'm used to being called "Trin," so I don't mind so much. I've been known to bitch at people for typing "U" instead of "you." And I never, ever shorten "Lane," 'Circle," or 'Terrace" when writing addresses.

2. I can wiggle my ears. That by itself is not unusual, I guess. What is weird is that literally everyone on my dad's side of the family can do it. Everyone. Literally. And between aunts, uncles and cousins, there's something like 30 of us. I guess it's inherited? We have a lot of strange family quirks, actually.

3. I am severely phone-phobic. I refuse to answer if I don't recognize the number, and half the time I don't answer it even if I do. I find phone calls to be obtrusive. If I wanted to talk to you, I would call you. There are a very few exceptions to this rule, and there are only three people for whom I will answer the phone whenever they call without hesitation - my mother, my father and my best friend. Everyone else, please leave a message at the tone. Or email. I much prefer written communication to spoken.

4. I have a hard time sleeping without a fan blowing on me. It could be minus fifty degrees out and I could be in bed with a hundred blankets to keep warm, and I'd still have a fan going, pointing right at me. I also can't sleep without my dog in my bed.

5. I am addicted to chapstick. Seriously. I keep one in my purse, one on my keychain, one on the lanyard with my work ID and keys, one next to my bed, one in my sewing box, one in the living room, one on the computer desk, and one in the kitchen. The best Christmas present I ever got was a ten-pack of Skittles flavored Lipsmackers. I have put more tubes of chapstick through the washer and dryer than I can count. If I don't have immediate access to chapstick, I get a little freaked out. Because of this, though, I probably have the softest lips in existence. :)

6. I'm close to 30 years old (well, closer to 30 than 20, anyway), and I still get my right and my left confused. I give lots of bad directions because of this. And yes, I still hold my hands up and do the "left makes the L" thing.
