That Crommunist article is...amazing. I was just talking about that: when I came to Google I immediately signed up for the LGBTQ group (rather unfortunately called "gayglers" but w/e) and put in for the Out badge, because, you know, visibility and all. (You can get badges on your internal profile; these badges are informal and made up by other employees and represent anything from "made 100 commits to the code base" to "played in the scrabble tournament.") And someone asked me about it, and...well. My co-workers are great guys, super-smart and they like and respect me and are comfortable around me, but they struggle with the idea of straight privilege, especially the further you get away from the context of bashing or marriage.
So um. Long comment to say: great link, I'll be using it, thanks. :)

I don't have much to say about the BM thing. This doesn't surprise me, they have a history of problems like this, as you pointed out. I dunno.
