Minhho stared at his best friend. Kim Jonghyun was a vampire he’d known for a very long time. He’d know Jonghyun long before he’d arrived at Fang Bang Bar. His best friend had been associated with Minho’s maker. He’d traveled along with Minho and his maker, hunted with them, even mated with them on hollow’s eve.
His creator had always told Minho that Jonghyun was a good person to befriend and to keep close. Jonghyun was witty and trustworthy, he was laid back yet strong. The pair had kept a strong friendship over time, and it had been a sweet treat when they’d both come across each other at Fang Bang Bar. In that time they were able to seduce humans, work together, and have an amazing time. They became closer if that was possible, Minho go to know his old time friend in a more intimate way.
Minho learned that Jonghyun was older than him by centuries, that he was extremely strong but hid it well. He was sensitive to the smell of blood, more than a usual vampire was. Jonghyun liked healthy blood, it didn’t matter if it was sweet or bitter, thick or thin, the older vampire was able to smell and taste healthy in a man’s veins. It was something Minho had always been jealous of. Jonghyun liked to sing in different languages during the day, not hide in a closet or coffin like the other undead. He had a thing for werewolves in the winter season, and he played the violin extremely well.
After all that time, after all their conversations and time spent together, somehow the fact that Kim Jonghyun was the son of the Vampire King had never been brought up or mentioned.
And yet in that moment Minho didn’t doubt it one bit. Maybe Jonghyun had been the cause of he and Jinki having to go on the run, but the elder had really just made up for it by not only swooping in to save him but also bringing forth his birth right as protection.
“You’re friends with one of the blood princes?!” Baekhyun’s face contorted in an odd way as he shrieked at the top of his lungs. He’d broken the thick silence of the two opposing sprites glaring down at the new arrival. They weren’t going to question what Jonghyun had said, after all he did look the part.
He was wearing a tribal chief’s headdress that was purely made out of gold. The strap that wrapped around his head was gold, with intricate diamonds and gold nuggets sewn together, leading to a pair of heavy fat diamonds lined with gold that covered both of his ears. And fanning out in the back was the crown of gold dusted feathers, their tips sparkling with more diamonds that had been set and burned in to the material. On his arm was a thin golden Chinese dragon that started at his elbow and curled its way up to bite his shoulder. At first sight it looked like a tattoo, but the head was not laying against his skin and it’s ruby eyes glowed every way he turned. And to finished off the display, everyone one of Jonghyun’s hands were adorned with thick identical gold bands.
No one could deny he was royalty. No supernatural carried or wore such beautiful pieces unless they had the right to.
“I didn’t know he was a prince.” Minho said pointedly while frowning. Jonghyun only smirked and kept his eyes on their opponents, who’d gone from glaring to drooling at his headdress and his dragon.
“There was word sent out from Disturbia that Choi was fair game.” the male sprite finally spoke while his eyes stayed glued to the golden dragon.
Jonghyun shrugged, “And now he’s not. That’s my word.”
A loud hiss seeped from the female’s teeth. Jonghyun chuckled back and took a few brave steps in their direction.
“Victoria and Kris isn’t it? The sprite siblings from China? I’ve heard about you two before.” Jonghyun circled the pair quickly, sniffing loudly and then finally landing in front of the female, Victoria, with a wide grin.
“I said he’s off limits. If you pursue him further I’ll shave your pretty little head and then eat your brain before I eat your heart.”, the older vampire lightly poked at Victoria’s head with his black nail. In a split second he back to standing beside Minho and Baekhyun.
“Um, ew. Why would you shave all her hair off and then eat her brain?” the earth sprite made a gagging sound and caused the vampire prince to chuckle. He turned to Baekhyun while playing with his golden rings.
“Because earth worm, I want to mortify her and let her feel every ounce of pain before I take her powers. Duh!” Baekhyun giggled at Jonghyun’s words. Minho sighed with impatience at the little show. It was great and all that they were saved, but there was one important person who was growing more and more anxious every second they stood out here and exchanged smirks and growls.
“Give me my human back now.” He ordered their foe. The siblings looked completely annoyed and didn’t budge. His fangs extended and his pupils turned silver.
The vampire prince stepped forward again, “Just as he said, give the human back now.”
“Or what?” Victoria pouted as the skies crackled loudly. Baekhyun groaned out ‘not again!’
The eldest vampire bared his fangs as well, his being twice as long compared to Minho’s, and his eyes glowed silver. But something else changed when he morphed this time…
Jonghyun took the golden headdress off to reveal his ears stretching back to turn pointy, his jaw lengthened and revealed bottom sharp canines, and thick fur bloomed on his arms. It was either the vampire prince had eaten a werewolf’s heart, or he was actually half werewolf.
And when Minho saw silver eyes turn deep red he concluded the latter.
Kris and Victoria flinched at the sight but readied themselves, trying to spread out as much as possible. Minho glanced to his right and gave Baekhyun a quick nod. The earth sprite saluted him and dived back in to the earth, and at that moment Minho charged the fire sprite. Kris lit his hands on fire and ran forward, teeth clenching as he soared to meet the vampire.
But before they could reach each other, Baekhyun came flying up from the ground, grabbing Kris and pulling him upward. The fire sprite countered with his own attack, sending a wave a heat down as he fell to land on Minho and Baekhyun as he fell. He jumped back up just in time to find the vampire’s claws digging in to his face and feeling his jugular being bitten in to. Kris quickly engulfed his whole body in a hot flame that sent the vampire roaring and falling away. But before he could launch himself at his opponent, he smacked to the ground by a huge boulder. The air left his lungs as his body was molded in to the dirt. He screamed at the feeling of breaking bones, his flame erupting along with the pain.
Kris hissed and panted, cracking his eyes open. The large boulder was glowing red from his power, but the earth sprite was pushing down on it still with all his might, not willing to let the fire sprite escape. It was almost admirable how hard the earth sprite worked, even though he was being burnt severely he held on. Kris thought, if only he weren’t against me and with me.
A shrill scream caught his attention, his fading from the rock on top of him as he looked over to choke in horror. Minho turned as well, pausing with his hand over Kris’ throat as he was ready to tear in to the flesh and end the fire sprite.
A few yards away, Jonghyun’s body had grown in size. His back had arched and widened, the notches of his spinal cord protruding through gray skin. His mane of brown hair had turned pitch black. And long black bat wings flapped effortlessly from his shoulder blades. They had to be at least 14 feet in width, with sharp talons at the end that were stabbing in to Victoria’s shoulders to keep her in place as Jonghyun crouched down to feed on her. The lightning sprite had no more courage and was screaming and crying, wiggling to try and escape her soon to be fate.
“No! Don’t!” Kris roared. He wanted to reach out to his sister, but there was a fucking boulder crushing him.
Minho’s mouth gaped as he watched. He’d heard rumors about the royal family, but he’d never thought any of them were true.
Kris continued to struggle underneath the heavy rock, smacking his head against the ground ruthlessly. Victoria was his sister and his other half. She’d been the only one to hold him and take care of him as a child. “Please! Toria! Leave her alone!”
Jonghyun pulled back from the lightning sprite. Minho could clearly see how his friend’s mouth and chin were coated in blood as the yellow glowing eyes turned to look over at Kris. With a sharp toothy grin Jonghyun pulled his wings away and stood up. He walked away from the twitching body and over to the crushed fire sprite.
“Where’s the human?” the vampire prince demanded.
“About five minutes west.” Kris answered quickly. Jonghyun motioned for Minho to get going, and the dead man was already up and running to retrieve his human, leaving behind the bloody scene and opening up his senses to catch Jinki’s scent.
~ ~ ~
It was getting cold, the chill of the morning air was making his body rattle and he wanted to hug himself to create warmth. But his bonds kept him from doing so, and Jinki pouted and cursed under his breath. In the distance he could hear explosions, he could hear cries and screams. When he pierced his eyes he could make out the glow of fire and the quick spit of lightning. Every sound made him more anxious. He was worried about Minho, he wanted his vampire back with him and Jinki wanted to feel safe in those cold arms again.
Being kidnapped wasn’t the hardest part of all this. No the hardest part was sharing Minho’s emotions. They were uncontrollable the way they shared their feelings back and forth. If Jinki felt scared it infected Minho and then the vampire felt just as scared too. And soon enough the fear was multiplying back and forth. It was usually the vampire who put a stop to it, willed himself to force a small calm over Jinki’s gut to soothe the human. Usually it worked.
But a few moments ago Jinki had felt Minho’s pain, felt the burning all over his chest and the forceful blow to his head. The human wanted to grab at his neck as he started to feel like he was being suffocated, he gasped as the burn spread from his chest and wrapped around his throat. It hurt, Jinki could feel Minho’s pain and it hurt so much.
There was more physical pain and eventually Jinki had rolled on to his side and cried silently. He wanted his vampire back and safe. He wanted his lover beside him and safe and unharmed.
“Dearest Jinki,” the soft whisper kissed his cheek. Jinki gasped and turned his head.
Minho stared down at him with black eyes, his brow knitted with worry. The human shivered with delight as cold hands pulled him close. His bonds were ripped away and he was free to embrace his lover, weeping and peppering his vampire with desperate kisses.
Jinki recited his vampire’s name like it was a prayer, he sighed with the feeling of Minho picking him up and holding him tightly. “I love you Minho. I love you I love you.” He said whilst kissing delicious and cold lips who kissed back. The small knick of a fang pricked Jinki’s bottom lip and the human squeaked, pulling away briefly to scowl.
More tears flowed as Jinki slapped his vampire’s shoulders and cried, “Where were you! Where did you go?! How could you?!”
If Minho’s heart could break a little, it would. He hugged his human again and muttered his apology and that it would never happen again. He’d never leave his human out of his sight, ever. He swore on everything he could possibly think of; his maker, his heart, his immortality, the Honda. Minho would never leave his Jinki alone again.
It took a few moments for the man to collect himself, for it to be okay for him to be set down on his own two feet. Jinki didn’t break physical contact with Minho though. As he brushed off the dirt from his bottom and tousled Minho’s knotted hair he kept their hands firmly locked together.
Jinki asked again where Minho had gone, what had been so important for the vampire to leave his human by himself.
So the dead man explained how he thought they’d had another night before their hunters attacked. And he’d gone out looking to eat an earth sprite’s heart. It was while he was confronting said earth sprite that he’d felt Jinki’s fear, realized that the human was in danger and had run as fast as he could to get to him.
But it had been too late. Minho apologized again, he’d never ever wanted any harm to come to his human. He never wanted Jinki to feel so afraid, and he felt immensely guilty that he’d not been there to protect his lover.
“Did you fight them?” Jinki asked with his head tucked under Minho’s chin. The vampire nodded and told him,
“Alongside Jonghyun and the earth sprite.” Jinki’s eyes blew wide open.
“J-Jonghyun? He’s here?” the human squeaked with astonishment. Hadn’t that vampire been the one to rat them out?
Minho nodded and tugged his human’s hand, “Come, we should meet with them. BoA finally contacted so my trial will be soon.”
Jinki threw his emotion of nervousness to the vampire. He watched Minho receive it and then give back a feeling of assurance. Which he took gladly and followed his dead man in to the field.
They walked for a few minutes before Minho stopped suddenly and turned to the man, pulling him forward in to his chest. His face was cupped and he looked in to the vampire’s black eyes.
“I love you my dear. I love you more than I love my immortality. I’d give it all up for you and only you Jinki.”
The human couldn’t help but smile brightly. He leaned up on his tippy toes to sweetly peck his vampire’s lips. “Love you to Minho.”
Before the vampire could continue leading them ahead, Jinki pulled back again with his bottom lip between his teeth. Minho upped his brow in question and the human squirmed a bit. A solid blush painted Jinki’s cheeks and the vampire could hear a rapid heartbeat.
The vampire frowned and at first didn’t understand why his lover was acting this way.
And then the emotion hit him low, right in his groin and made a crash of heat flood downward. Jinki was very suddenly horny. Or was he suddenly very horny? Either way it didn’t matter because Minho’s mouth watered with that thought.
“Is it weird that I’m craving you now? Like we were separated and now I want-I want you to-Minho?” Jinki sputtered out and quikly drew close. The vampire knew exactly what his human meant. Their bond was still new to them even after all these months. It was still strong and fresh. If they were separated like that and then brought back together, their bond called for a reunification. A physical one at best.
They were in the clear zone now anyways right? The fire and lightning sprite were being controlled by a vampire prince so there was no danger. Minho licked his lips before abruptly laying Jinki down and crawling on top of him. Minho would always adore the way Jinki shuddered beneath him, his nails scraping at the vampire’s skull and his breathing labored from anticipation. Minho would always adore Jinki.
“I crave you too my dear. You are my absolute favorite thing.”
