Really, movies, really?

I have some hope that more theaters are going to announce non-3D versions of The Avengers before Friday, but it's fucking ridiculous that it's the Monday before and there are all of three theaters in Manhattan that have showings announced. Goddamn it 3D, I hate you, go away.

On the plus side, there aren't too many showings up for the 3D version ( Read more... )

Undoubtedly, it contributes to the problem. But the movie times as listed would indicate that each venue isn't showing the movie in more than one theater, which is bullshit. This is the hugest movie in the history of ever, and besides, I'm sure Marvel has arranged to have it on as many screens as possible.

Yeah, but there just can't be that many theaters, still, that are outfitted for the 3D, much less the IMAX.

AMC Loews Newport Center (on our side of the river) has 7: 45 non-3D still available on Fandango. Easily accessible by Path and everything.

It might be a little early for some folks getting into town for the movie, and for me to make from work early enough to grab seats, but I rule nothing out at this point.

I don't think more showtimes are going to pop up. It looks like every theater in NYC is showing this in 3D, sometimes on multiple screens. HATE.

What about the Brooklyn theater that has an 8pm show? It's the very first stop in Brooklyn on the 2/2, 4/5, A/C/E, N/R, and F trains. It's certainly closer than Jersey, though the time may be a little early.

No clue about what the Clearview's like, but UES is obviously more convenient to me than perhaps others.

Working on it, I promise. I'm thinking upper east side is the better bet at present, unless we want to go to Jersey.
