I haven't not ever had a Metrocard coming back from LaGuardia, so I've no idea where in the airport to pick one up. I'm assuming there are either machines that dispense them or that the airport news stands have the pre-packaged ones. Can someone who has been there more recently back me up on this?

According to alankria on her recent visit, she had to go to one of those newsstands to buy one. Though of course on a bus, you're fine if you have exact change. I wasn't looking the last time was there, but I don't remember seeing any machines at the airport.

Yeah, that's what I assumed--have change or go to a newsstand. Well, that's what I'll suggest to my sister then.

The last time I was there, I got one at a news stand. I don't think they have any machines, which has always struck me as weird.

It is and it isn't? I mean, it would make it easier for people to find a Metrocard, but there's really only the one bus that you'd use it for. If it were more of a hub, maybe the machines would be more justified. I guess they assume people coming in who are from the city have their own already and anyone coming in from out of town is probably not going to take the bus all that often.

It's actually a really bad oversight, because when I came home on the M60 a couple of weeks ago about four different tourists tried to get on and pay with something other than exact change. And the bus driver wasn't clear enough about what they needed, because at least one came back with exact dollar bills rather than coins after being sent off the first time. They do have change machines inside, I guess, but I can't think of any reason why they couldn't stick one Metrocard machine at each bus stop.

I have to wonder if it's really SOOOOO expensive that they can't do that much at least. Yeesh.
