FUS is Feline Urological Syndrome. Common in male cats, it's typically where a crystal or stone will form in the bladder and migrate down the urethra blocking the passage of urine. Within hours, the bladder fills to capacity, and becomes hard and distended. Because of the inability to expel urine, the potassium levels in the blood elevate to dangerous levels, causing cardiac arrest. It's fast, deadly, and the most common cause of death among male cats.
