The penguins have me.

Last night I dreamt that John Sheppard was being attacked by an evil penguin. He fought it off with a fireplace poker, but its flesh was too rubbery and the tip kept bouncing off. Also, it talked. Its voice and mannerisms were similar to those of Joe Pesci or maybe Danny DeVito--all it needed was a cigar to chomp between its beak ( Read more... )

So no, I am absolutely not trying to think of plausible reasons for them to be in Dublin, thank you for asking.

*raised eyebrow*
How plausible are we talking, here? *g* Also, do they have to be students?

Maybe Rodney accompanies John to Europe after the siege, because John is bound and determined to visit all the families of the dead soldiers - and one of the men who died was from Ireland, It is a multi-national force, after all. And while they're there, Rodney wants to see his old tutor, Professor O'Donnell, who is now head of the physics department at Trinity.

Or: Rodney did a JYA year (do they do that in Canada? Did Rodney go to university in Canada, for that matter?) at Trinity, and John was, um, backpacking around Europe. They meet in some comical fashion, and wackiness (as psychopepsquad says) ensues.

Or: Aliens give them freaky drugs, and make them think they are back on Earth! For some reason, they end up in "Trinity". More wackiness.

Muahaha :) Not long. Suddenly all your friends are into SGA! It's exciting! Thus I am spreading through your friendslist. Or something like that.

Anyway, you've been insane for years :p

I giggle like a loon every time I read this sentence. I don't know why. Just...Professor O'Donnell...

*laughter. tears*

ANYWAY...

do they do that in Canada? Did Rodney go to university in Canada, for that matter?

I have no idea, though I bet the answer to the first question is yes. But I need more backstory, dammit!

There need to be more "Aliens give them freaky drugs and make them think they are back on Earth" stories. Or episodes! Or both!

*g* OK... *backs away slowly* I was just going for Generic Irish Name #45, really :) But hey, if it amuses.

What sort of backstory are you looking for?

*takes back the pipe*

Oh, definitely. Although I don't think anyone will ever manage it as... freakily as Farscape.

I think that's why it's so funny. God, I hope that's why it's so funny...

Awww. Maybe you'll get the chance soon? It's not one of my favourite shows, but I've seen a fair amount of it, and it had great fun doing some really interesting envelope-pushing. There's a lot of stuff people said you couldn't get away with in sci-fi TV - but hey, it turns out that maybe you can! Worth watching, anyway.
