I'm assuming there was discussion of this, which I missed because of my recent "This one goes to 11 (p.m.)" work week, so I hope nobody minds if I just pose ( this query; spoilers )
Was it just me, or did the guy who played Ruber totally wish he were Gary Oldman?
I said that three times to the people I was watching with and they didn't get it at all.
Wha? What the hell happened at the end there?
I don't know!! And I'm a little miffed, so I'm glad to see others are all *flaily hands* about it, too. I kept watching the clock going, "and they're going to wrap all of this up in how many minutes? I don't think so!"
There better be a sequel. I'm just sayin'. Because I get that you leave the audience with questions, but not feeling like the missed the last three chapters.

Well, I was shouting it to an empty room, so...
But we are SO right.
Questions are good. But to be all like, "There will be CONSEQUENCES if you do this! Big, scary consequences!" and then not even hint at them...what's with that? Not to mention that Joe is still apparently wanted for murder and kidnapping...WTF?
Yes! And we still have Oldman The Prophet running around, and if Joe's an object -- as well as wanted for murder and why wasn't there a pile of stuffed animals and other accumulated stuff when he finally found Anna? -- shouldn't he be different? The Occupant didn't sound like a really sane guy after he because the Occupant but apparently Peter Krause's easy confidence beats off impending insanity?
Just -- way, way too fast. There should've been an extra ten minutes at least to give some consequences.
Although, I was very happy when we didn't get the Outer Limits/Twighlight Zone ending I was dreading. I didn't need the nightmares.
(The real) Gary Oldman would actually make a pretty awesome prophet, I think.
Yes, yes, yes-I likewise want answers to all the questions you pose. Because seriously, what's up with there being all this build up to "uh-oh, you are an object now" and then nothing changes?
I was also anticipating/dreading an ending where Joe saves Anna and she doesn't know him anymore, so yeah, I guess we should be thankful that it didn't end like that. Or were you envisioning something WORSE?
I mentioned to The Mom that this felt mostly like a part-one-of-two scenario, and she suggested that maybe they're planning to turn it into a series, which would delight me beyond measure. I absolutely loved this movie, though, yeah, I was also a bit miffed at the lack of explanations at the end.
A series would be fine! A series would be awesome! Because I was really impressed, actually, with all the detective stuff, which was clever and made sense in a way that most TV detection does not, and there are of course infinite possibilities for more cool stuff with other objects. So yes, let's hope for a series and SOME EXPLANATIONS AND CONSEQUENCES, OMG.
I'm deeply fascinated by the idea of things existing where they shouldn't and (odd) everyday items having special powers, so I'm all for this whole universe as a fandom. I'd even love to see crossovers, because those items could be ANYWHERE.
My read on the end was that Joe is the new occupant and that's why he could survive the room resetting. Rescuing Anna was something he could choose to do because the occupant is the Object that has free will. I have no idea why he didn't show any signs of going mad or being erased from history.
I think they deliberately left threads unresolved because they wanted to leave it open for a series. Which, as cool as it could potentially be, annoys me- one of the reasons I was looking forward to the miniseries was because the format gives you a finite amount of time to wrap up the story and get closure. A regular show will never let them find all the answers because that would mean it was over.

Ahh, okay, that makes a little more sense. But I was promised history-erasing! Ahem.
And yeah, there ought to be a way for there to be closure for the events of the miniseries and still leave stuff open. I mean, keep that last shot of the key reappearing, but tie up some of the loose ends, please!
*chuckles* Yeah. See my latest post. I glanced at the clock and thought ... okay, they have ten minutes left in which to wrap this up in a satisfying manner.
I didn't mind so much that it was open ended; there is the possibility of a series if it does well (http://www.broadcastingcable.com/blog/1380000138/post/470005847.html). I just enjoyed the time spent watching it, very reminiscent of The Twilight Zone (which also often didn't have neat endings). I don't agree that nothing happened, though; Joe has essentially sold his soul to the devil (murder) and committed himself to a lifetime of involvement with the motel room and all the obsessed people that go along with it, in order to save his daughter. Previously he's always thought "I'll just get her back, then throw away the key and walk away from all this insanity." Never going to happen now.

Ooh, you are brilliant! And we don't even have to wait for a series for that!
*tries to decide which characters would be the most fun to fuck with* Supernatural is too obvious, isn't it?
