As Suzuki Mio sat on a bench overlooking the water, she opened her small cell phone and saw Kurenai Wataru’s kind face staring right back at her. The sight of Wataru’s warm eyes and his gentle smile made her heart flutter a little bit, and she looked at the ring he’d given her, which still sat proudly on her hand. For a moment, she almost forgot what it was that had been bothering her so much.
Then she spotted a text message from Nobori Taiga and her heart sort of sunk. Taiga was kind to her, there was no question about that, but he was not the one for her. She almost didn’t want to be Queen. She thought it was unfair, to keep leading Taiga on this way, pretending to have feelings she didn’t have, knowing that out of her, Wataru and Taiga, someone was going to wind up hurt… or worse.
Frowning a little bit, she pressed the “delete” button and the message vanished. Mio watched this in slight fascination, musing about how simple it was to just delete a message. She kind of wished that it was that easy to just delete Taiga from her life.
Things would be easier if she could just cut Taiga out of the picture and paste Wataru in his place. Then she wouldn’t have to worry about Taiga killing Wataru or taking her powers away for loving a human. Things would be perfect that way. Suddenly, she had an idea. She opened up another text message Taiga had sent her, telling her that he was in love with her. She copied the message, pasted it into a new one and then added her picture before sending it to Wataru.
