Title: “Gone with the Vampire”
Author: Trinity
Fandom: True Blood
Pairing: Bill/Sookie
Rating: PG
Summary: Even vampires have fantasies.

Sometimes, as Bill slept during the day, he dreamed. Usually, when he dreamed, it was often about his family, the life he used to have and even, occasionally, his sire. But other times, especially recently, he dreamed about Sookie. He hadn’t felt this way about a woman since his wife and that was truly saying something. Sookie was everything he could have dreamed of and possibly more. He was, without a doubt, even at this early stage, in love with the telepathic waitress and the more he dreamed of her, the clearer it became.

As he closed his eyes, he felt himself drift off, his mind going back to another time, another place… but as he hoped she would be, Sookie was there.

Somewhere, a clocked chimed. As he stood at the bottom of a winding staircase, Bill reached into the pocket of the suit he was wearing and looked at the watch. He was early, this he knew, but he always tried to be on time. When you came to call on a woman, it wasn’t something worth being late for, lest you leave a bad impression. William Compton was not a man who liked leaving bad impressions.

Just as the clocked finished its last chime, Bill heard a soft “ahem” coming from the top of the marble staircase and he turned around, trying not to appear as eager or excited as he felt. What he saw took his breath away.

Sookie Stackhouse was standing at the top of the stairs and she looked absolutely resplendent. She was dressed in a scarlet red ball gown with black accents on the bodice and skirt, long black gloves and her blonde hair was done up in ringlets. She looked like a classic Southern Belle and as she came down the stairs towards him, her smile only grew larger and larger.

“Good evening, Miss Stackhouse.” Bill bowed gently before taking her hand and kissing it.

“Good evening, Mr. Compton.” She curtsied as he let go of her hand, trying to contain her giggles.

“You look… beautiful.” He murmured softly, drinking in the sight of her dressed in what upper class women wore at the time. He hadn’t really given it much thought, how’d she’d look in such finery, but seeing Sookie now made him wish he’d fantasized about it a bit more. “Like the lady I always see you as.”

A blush colored her cheeks rosy pink as he took her hand and lead her into the grand ballroom. “Why, Mr. Compton, you are… you are much too kind to me.”

As they entered into the ballroom, they found that they were alone, but in response to their entrance, candles seemed to flicker on and classical music, a waltz of some kind, began to play. Sookie was spellbound as she drank this all in, her eyes seeming to grow wider and wider with each new view.

“Miss Stackhouse…” Even after being dead for as long as he had been dead, Bill never forgot his manners. “…may I have this dance?”

At his little bow, she curtsied and nodded, her blonde hair going up and down a little bit. “Yes… you may.”

He took her hand in his and they began to dance across the ballroom floor, Sookie feeling as though she was on a cloud and Bill just happy to be with her. She made him feel human again… alive. He liked that she could relax around him and that she felt safe with him, even if he was a vampire. It was such a change from the way things used to be.

“You make me feel like a lady.” She remarked as he dipped her backwards slowly.

“That’s because you are one.” He smiled and kissed her softly, allowing the warmth of her, the sunshine and her light to surround him before everything seemed to shimmer into nothingness.

Bill awoke with a start, only to find himself back in his hiding spot. He smiled at the wood floor before deciding to take a bath and then go to Merlotte’s.

Perhaps Sookie would be there tonight.
