“I’m home!” Fujimori-Kaito Tsumeko called as she walked in the front door, setting her bag down on the floor and tossing her keys aside before sliding off her shoes. “Jiro-kun? Daiki?”

There was suddenly a shout of “Tsumenono!” and a loud crash from the kitchen.

Tsumeko stifled a laugh and headed into the kitchen, only to be greeted by the sight of her husband, Kaito Daiki, with a bowl of what looked like pudding on his head. The stuff was all over the kitchen, her husband and their small, 14 month old son, Kaito Jiro. Jiro was just learning to speak and “Tsumenono” was what he called his mother. He also called his father “DaiDai”.

Sure enough, Jiro was seated in his high chair, covered in pudding and waving his little arms. “Tsumenono!” he called, reaching out to his mother.

Tsumeko had to try very hard not to laugh.

Carefully, Daiki took the pudding bowl off his head. “Hi, Tsume.” He said.

“What happened?” Tsumeko asked.

“Oh, your son smelled you and you know how he gets.” Daiki replied. “Jiro-kun is always happy and excited to see his mother. And it just so happens that I was holding a bowl of pudding in my hands as he got excited and well… he’s quite strong for such a little guy.”

Tsumeko couldn’t help it. The sight of her husband covered in pudding, her son covered in pudding and the kitchen a mess was too much. She started laughing.

Daiki couldn’t help it. He started laughing, too. The sight of his parents laughing, also made Jiro laugh and the entire family was just standing in the kitchen, laughing.

Tsumeko decided that for once, she would take control of it. Daiki may do most of the housework, but Tsumeko was the one in charge. “Daiki, why don’t you take Jiro-kun and give him and yourself a bath?”

“I’d rather have a bath with you…” Daiki murmured, kissing Tsumeko and allowing her to lick some of the pudding off his face.

“Not in front of Jiro-kun…” She giggled. “We can have one later….”

“CHU!” Jiro shouted and Tsumeko giggled.

“Who taught him that word?” Daiki mused out loud.

“Probably one of my siblings.” Tsumeko kissed Daiki again and then shooed him out of the kitchen. “Oh and Daiki?”

He was in the process of picking up Jiro and he looked at her. “What is it?”

“How did you know that butterscotch pudding was my favorite?”

He smiled. “I just know.”

As Tsumeko went about cleaning up the pudding off the kitchen, she opened the fridge to find there was some pudding in dessert cups and a little card for her. Tsumeko chuckled. Sometimes, Daiki really did just know.
