Summary: Desperate to get her friend Misako back, Suzuki Sakomi, her husband Satoru and her brother in law, Aso Mitsuhide, decide to go and find a way to bring her back.
Stealing into the stronghold of DaiShocker was a daunting task for any who took it on, but whenever one had help, it was a massive help. Suzuki Sakomi, her husband, Fujimori Satoru and her brother in law, Aso Mitsuhide had the help of Kaito Daiki, who knew enough to help them get in and out to stop the reign of DaiShocker… or at least, its Queen.
Its Queen was Sakomi’s only friend and Mitsuhide’s girlfriend, Nobori Misako. Misako had been kidnapped, brainwashed and transformed into a powerful woman who had laid waste to her fathers and her own world. Sakomi was determined to put a stop to it. Which was why she, Satoru and Mitsuhide were being told by Daiki and his friend Haruka, how to get to Tsukasa and how exactly, Misako had wound up being put in a special location.
“So, one of the worlds they tried to conquer recently fought back and somehow, Misako wound up cursed.” Haruka said, still not fully understanding. “She’s being kept in a cathedral nearby and I swear, it’s like a fairy tale. She looks like Snow White.”
“Does she need a kiss to wake up?” Sakomi asked.
“Apparently, yes.” Haruka replied. “Tsukasa himself has been in where he’s hiding her and kissed her himself, but to no avail. I guess, as the fairy tale goes, only the kiss of true love can break the spell cast over Misako.”
“Both spells.” Daiki muttered, prompting a look from Sakomi. “Tsukasa is controlling Misako. It’s not through mind control or brainwashing, but he’s got a hold on her somehow. I bet you anything it might be a spell. I bet Junichi, my older brother, helped him.”
“Helped him HOW?” Satoru asked. “I didn’t think he was a mystic.”
“A nickname given to our world was the Stepford World.” Haruka explained. “Junichi is part of a program that ‘programs’ people into being nice and polite and whenever anyone is not nice or polite, they MAKE you that way. It gets ugly real quick. I bet Junichi helped Tsukasa program Misako while she was unconscious.”
“I think it helped.” Sakomi knew Misako better than most people ever could. “Tsukasa is incredibly smart despite his ditzy behavior. He knew that Misako would be easy to manipulate, but to turn her against Wataru and then have her kill him… it’s unthinkable. Outrageous. She HAD to be brainwashed for that…”
“So what do we do?” Mitsuhide asked.
“Sakomi and Satoru are going to distract Tsukasa.” Daiki explained. “I can’t be part of it because I have to think of Tsume and Jiro-kun… and how much trouble I’d be in if anything ever befell them. Haruka will help you. She’s a Rider, too. As for you, Mitsu… you can sniff out Misako, yes? It’s up to you to play her fairytale prince and rescue her.”
“But what if there are guards?” Mitsuhide asked.
“Mitsu…” Sakomi groaned. “You are WOLFEN. Kick their butts!”’
“To be fair, Mitsuhide is not well versed in the aspects of butt kicking.” Satoru muttered and Mitsuhide shot his older brother a glare. “Mitsu, you’re not. I’m sorry, but it’s a fact.””
“But I can do it. I just… choose not to.” Mitsuhide replied. “But, I’ll rescues Misako… but that won’t bring her fathers back. What do I say if she asks about them?”
“Lie.” Sakomi replied. “Now, go on. Go find her!”
Misako was being kept in a large cathedral, her body spread out as though ready for a funeral. She was dressed in a beautiful golden dress, looking every bit the Queen Mitsuhide had known. Her beauty was breathtaking.
“Misa…” He murmured, using the pet name he had for her, wondering if she could hear. Probably not, but still, he approached.
It was just as Haruka had said. She looked like Snow White or Sleeping Beauty, patiently waiting for her prince to come and wake her up. He wondered if she knew what she’d done. The people’s whose lives she’d helped ruin, the siblings she left orphaned… and the people who lived under fear and terror because she’d helped Tsukasa under the belief that he loved her.
When Masao returned to where Taiga had told his remaining children and the Fujimori family to hide, he was covered in soot and blood and his face looked crushed.
In his arms, he held a black leather glove and the blood stained Kiva emperor form helmet… the only things left of his fathers, Nobori Taiga and Kurenai Wataru. When he’d finally gotten to the D&P building, it, just like Castle Doran, was on fire.
His fathers had already had a taste of Misako’s wrath.
Mitsuhide had spotted him first and his face fell as he saw the helmet and the glove and then he tried hard not to cry.
Kurenai Mio, the youngest, normally shy and quiet, however, announced her older brother’s return with the most anguished scream of pain that Mitsuhide had ever heard. She sank to her knees and just screamed.
Maya, her sister, then also spotted her brother and screamed, but it was nothing compared to her twin’s.
Mitsuhide remembered seeing Mio go to her brother and carefully take the Emperor form helmet from him before cradling in her arms and murmuring, “Papa, Papa… it’s a lie… it’s a LIE…. She couldn’t have turned on Papa… Papa didn’t do anything…”
Masao, the oldest son, the only son, was also crying. “…I’m sorry...Bloody Rose.”
“Did you see him?” Maya asked, taking Taiga’s glove from Masao and clinging to him. “Dad and Papa… was there…”
“Dad was shards… Papa… the Zanbat… she rammed it into his heart, but that was okay. Papa’s heart was probably already broken.” Masao paused. “And Dad… well, he probably never even saw she was there.”
Maya would have probably collapsed then if Takeshi, Mitsuhide’s younger brother hadn’t grabbed her and kept her somewhat upright as she dissolved into tears. Similarly, Tatsuya cradled a sobbing Mio in his arms as she clung to her father’s helmet.
And then, in a scene that broke Mitsuhide’s heart, Masao finally collapsed into tears, his heart broken, as Akane rushed to his side to console him.
And in those brief, horrible, terrible moments, Mitsuhide learned just how much Misako was willing to make people suffer.
Remembering that awful day, Mitsuhide paused before Misako’s “altar”. He wondered what good waking her up would do. She’d destroyed her family, countless lives and worlds all ruined because of her and Tsukasa. He began to question it. Why not leave her there where she would never harm anyone again?
Come to think of it… he HAD asked that question when Sakomi decided to break in and take her back.
“She MURDERED HER FATHERS.” Satoru said when Sakomi announced that she was going to force Daiki to take her and whomever else wanted to help take Tsukasa and DaiShocker down to the stronghold. “Why should we want to do ANYTHING for Misako?”
“If she’s cursed, why not leave her?” Mitsuhide’s question had made everyone stare at him in shock. “It’s like Aniki said. She killed her fathers and helped ruin the lives of who knows how many other people. Why should we do anything for her?”
“If not for Misako, I promise you, Satoru, I’d still be drunk and on drugs, mourning your death because I had nothing better to do except kill people.” Sakomi spat, angry with her husband’s questioning. “She is my best friend, MY ONLY FRIEND. And she’s not in her right mind. If no one else is willing to save her, then I will… even if it’s a suicide mission. Because we swore to one another on our power as Queens that if ONE of us was ever in danger, the other would come to her rescue.”
Sakomi had then turned her gaze on Mitsuhide. “And I can’t believe that YOU of all people are asking me why we should save her. If anything, you should be helping me. Tsukasa kidnapped her and stole her from you. You should want to get her back, Mitsuhide. Because YOU LOVE HER.”
“She murdered her fathers.” Mitsuhide muttered. “And look at what else she’s WILLINGLY done! That is NOT the Misako I loved!”
“Don’t you see?” Sakomi refused to admit or believe that Misako would have WILLINGLY turned on Wataru. She knew that brainwashing had to be involved somehow, so she blackmailed Daiki into helping her learn the truth. “She’s NOT the Misako you loved. She’s been brainwashed into believing Tsukasa and his lies. The Misako I know would have NEVER turn on Wataru on her own free will. How could ANYONE have turned on someone as kind and loving as Kurenai Wataru?”
Sakomi had a point.
“Fine.” Mitsuhide hadn’t liked the idea, but he knew Sakomi would never forgive him nor would he be able to forgive himself if he refused. “I’ll come.”
He still wasn’t convinced he was doing what was best.
Mitsuhide saw the DaiShocker pendant around her neck and ripped it off. It didn’t belong there. Even when she was arguing with Taiga the most, she had always worn the treasured Queen insignia pendant her fathers had given her. Tsukasa probably destroyed it.
He threw the pendant aside and looked at her face. She was still beautiful. He figured he could just leave her. She didn’t need to wake up. No doubt the moment she got back, her siblings would kill her for what she’d done… if she didn’t kill herself first.
He wasn’t sure if putting her through hat would be wise.
“I bet Princes in fairytales don’t doubt themselves” He murmured, stroking Misako’s hair “I want to kiss you and wake you up, but… I bet you won’t remember all the pain you caused. Your sisters and brother… they don’t want anything to do with you anymore. That’s kind of sad. I don’t want you to suffer because I love you. It’s because I love you that I came… and now. I don’t want to wake you up.”
He looked at her hand and took the black rose diamond ring off and threw it away. He hated seeing what Tsukasa had done to her. He reached into the folds of his kimono and pulled out the ring he was going to give her on the day Tsukasa had stolen her. He put the ring on her hand and kissed it.
“I’m going to leave you here.” He murmured. “As much as I want to take you home… I can’t do that and be happy with it. It’ll be kinder to leave you here, asleep, so you don’t have to live with what you did.” He knew that Misako, or at the least, the Misako he knew and the Misako he loved with all of his heart, would never be able to cope with all that she had done. And he couldn’t bear it if he lost her.
“Mitsuhide!” Misako was calling to him, dressed in a pretty yukata and waving as she sprinted through the gardens as much as she could. She was beautiful, the sunshine making her shine. This was the Misako he loved and remembered. This was the Misako he wanted to see again.
“Mitsu! I love you!”
He wondered if he could ever cope with never seeing her again and never hearing her say those words. He knew that if he turned and walked away, she would stay there, asleep and he would be alone.
Stupid Wolfen tendencies to pick one mate. He thought to himself.
Swallowing his pride and fears, Mitsuhide bent over Misako’s face, lifted her veil and kissed her lips, closing his eyes.
When he opened them again, the cathedral was gone.
Mitsuhide and Misako were lying together on a blanket in the rose garden outside Castle Doran and Misako looked as though she had woken up from a long, long sleep.
“Mitsu…” She beamed and in that moment he KNEW. He knew Misako, HIS Misako, was back.
“Misako, what’s the last thing you remember?” He had to know.
“You asked me to marry you and kissed me before I got to answer.” She giggled. “Why do you ask?”
He wondered if he was the only one who remembered anything. “No reason….”
“Yes.”
“Yes, what?”
“Yes, I will marry you.”
He beamed. “Okay.”
“Hey, Mitsu?”
“What?”
“I love you.”
A smile. “I know.” He kissed her again.
And they lived happily ever after.
