Summary: Sakomi had always wished for one more day with Satoru after his death. Instead she got one more lifetime.
“Good morning, gorgeous.” Fujimori Satoru’s voice was enough to rouse Fujimori Sakomi, his new wife, from her sleep and she opened her eyes, surprised to find her husband above her, smiling at her. She smiled back.
“Satoru… is it really you?” She asked, softly, wondering if this was all a dream. She had fallen asleep, lonely and sad, stuck in a marriage to a man she didn’t love, missing Satoru, who had passed away and woken up… only to find Satoru was still with her and they had gotten married. She thought it was a dream, much too good to be true. She had always wished for one more day to spend with Satoru… was she really given one more lifetime instead?
“You keep saying that… I guess you must have really had a bad dream.” Satoru murmured, kissing her softly. “Of course it’s me.” He kissed her nose and smiled at her, his smile warm and affectionate in the morning sunshine. He laced their fingers together and they shared another warm kiss and Sakomi let out a warm sigh.
Sakomi wanted just to wrap herself up in Satoru and never let go. “Yes, it was a horrible dream…worse than that one I had about the Weeping Angels.”
“I remember that dream.” Satoru laughed. “I wish we’d never watched that Doctor Who episode… It makes you scared to blink.” He smiled softly. “Darling, what do you want to do today? We could always stay in bed, order sushi and feed each other.”
“Sushi sounds yummy.” Sakomi murmured. “We could always do it nude, you know… I eat if off you or you eat it off me…” She smiled. “Hey… would you be sad if I died?”
“Of course I would. You’re my mate… the only woman I’ll want for the rest of my life. I’d die without you… and I’d always wish for one more day.”
“What if… someone gave you one more lifetime?”
“I’d treasure everyday more then…why?”
“No reason. I’m just curious.” She curled into him. “I just want to spend the whole day with you. Is that okay?”
“Sure.” Satoru then moved away, only for their fang necklaces to get tangled p in one another’s. They fell back in bed together, tangled up and laughing and Sakomi wondered one more time if she’d only get one more day… when what she really wanted was one more lifetime… in fact, several lifetimes. She just wanted to b with him forever.
Suddenly, Sakomi blinked and she found herself being shook awake by her father, Bishop, who was bent over her and looking concerned.
“Sakomi?”
Sakomi looked up and she was back in her private apartment, still wearing that white dress and the black pearls. She looked around and realized… she had only been given that one more day.
“Oh…” She looked crestfallen. “…Dad.”
“What’s the matter?” Bishop asked, noticing her sad expression.
“Oh, nothing…. I just had a really nice dream.” Sakomi mused. “I was happy.”
Bishop wondered about that, as if she had had a good dream, she certainly wasn’t showing it. Instead, she wore the same sad expression she always wore… the same one he’d seen on Maya’s face countless times.
“I see.” Bishop kissed her forehead gently. “You always seem to be happier when you’re dreaming than when you’re awake.”
“I’m not married to Taiga when I’m dreaming.” Sakomi muttered. “Instead, that’s where I see Satoru, every day, in my dreams. That’s where I’m happy.” A pause. “You have no idea what I’d give for the chance to spend my life with him. I feel like I was robbed.”
Bishop hated seeing his daughter unhappy and hated Taiga for treating her so badly. So, he decided to fix things. “Here. Take this.”
“This” was a necklace with a pretty charm on it.
“What is it?”
“This is a necklace that will give you that one more lifetime.” Bishop smirked. “I think that perhaps, to fix the present… we must fix the past.”
“Dad…”
“The last time I tried to kill Taiga, he tried to kill me. So, I am finding another way to stop him from hurting my daughter…. So I will simply erase your marriage and give you the happiest you want.” He smiled. “I’m your father. No one will love you more than I.”
“What do I do with it?”
Bishop smiled. “You make a wish.”
And so, Sakomi closed her eyes and made a wish.
I wish to spend one more lifetime with Satoru. Not just a day… a lifetime.
Sakomi closed her eyes and then she opened it, to find herself in a fiery red gown, with matching ruby slippers, just like Dorothy’s from the Wizard of Oz. She was surprised to suddenly find herself in a dance with Satoru.
He smiled at her. “Is everything all right, Sakomi?” he asked. “You’ve been so quiet since this morning. I thought that the sushi would titillate you a bit… it s our anniversary after all. We’ve been married for a whole year.”
Sakomi smiled softly. She wondered where the charm had gone, but she didn’t really mind. She was in Satoru’s arms again… where she belonged.
One more lifetime… one more lifetime of happiness…. My life is complete.
