Summary: Once upon a time, there was a princess and a thief. He found her and she promised to stay with him always.
In truth, Masumi had always loved Natsuki. The fact had been plain and clear for a very long time, but the problem was that Masumi was afraid. He was afraid of what Yami no Yaiba had said to him about the darkness. He didn’t want that darkness to come and swallow Natsuki up. In a way, he needed her. She reminded him of the good still left in the world, of the hope and happiness. And who could blame him? Natsuki’s smile and her cheerful nature was enough to make even the coldest heart melt a little.
And even after he learned who she truly was, Masumi still loved her. In fact, he felt duty-bound to protect her. Just because she was a princess didn’t make her any less his Natsuki. She was still her, she was still his and he still loved her.
Sometimes he wondered why he didn’t realize this sooner. Time, as he had been shown once, was something that could move swiftly, yet slowly, be cruel and yet kind, and was limited when it came to how long you were in the world. Maybe, he had reasoned to himself, it was just because time had to show him what had been there all along.
This was what was on his mind as he watched Natsuki,
his Natsuki, beautiful in her pale yellow dress, walk slowly up the aisle. She looked as perfect and beautiful as she had always been, her black hair in cute ringlets and a big smile on her face.
Masumi, looking quite nervous in his suit, felt his heart warm a little when he saw her approach. He knew, just by the look in her eyes, that she felt what he’d always known was right there. Time had been a gift to them both, giving her back her memories, and him the love he never thought he’d have. So, he’d been quick, swift.
After all, now was all they got… and they’d spend all that time the way they always had:
Together.
