May Get Hotter

this is awkward... let's talk about the weather.

Lately, the weather has been unpredictable. It seems like the whole country has been experiencing at least some degree of irregularity or unseasonable weather. Los Gatos is no different. The main thing here has been fluctuations between about 50 and 85. It can't decide if it's summer or spring. Frankly, I have my bets on spring, but it seems like summer just may be early. in any case, I'm a little worried now about what summer may be like...

Yesterday it was 85 degrees inside our house, long after it had cooled down outside. we have no A/C. I opened all the doors and windows, but there was no wind. So I got a fan, and that worked pretty well, but only for one room at a time. So it took a while. So I think maybe we need more fans.

There is a plus side to this... our loquat tree is ripening up nicely, and those plants that get enough water are growing well. I'm kinda wondering about the lawns... Technically, our area hasn't been put on water restrictions, but if next year is dry too, we will be... And keeping our lawns green through the heat of summer seems wrong to me in some way. I guess growing up in a drought left an impact on me.

Here's a tip for keeping cool: Green tea, Peppermint tea, and Chrysanthemum tea are all good for cooling off. They can also be mixed in any combination. For maximum cooling effect, boil a liberal amount of all three for 1-3 minutes, then remove from heat and allow to steep to desired strength. Serve cold.
