For the past couple of weeks, I have been watching the Mt. St. Helens webcam, but yesterday and today, it was foggy and cloudy and raining, so the only image has been the raindrops on the camera lens.
But today the clouds lifted a little, and we can see the mountain--covered with new-fallen snow. The odd thing is, the radio has been announcing all day that scientists say magma is continuing to push up to the surface and that she could go like this for months or blow at any moment (though probably not like the 1980 eruption).
How odd to see that placid, pure snow and know that molten lava is boiling just beneath its surface.
