Mystery Spot. It is my favorite episode of TV, period.
It was funny (Oh my god was it funny), it was tragic (SOB), and it was unexpected. The shift in tone in the middle of this episode was brilliant. It went from the viewer laughing at each new death to the horror of Dean dying for real to the shock of how far off the deep end Sam goes. And then that final scene just about killed me.
