Halfway to Devon there was a moment of quiet when I found myself musing on Holmes’ eagerness to be rid of me with some slight hurt. Determined not to dwell on it I stood to reach for my newspaper when a sudden jolt flung me into the lap of Sir Henry. His smile promised a better distraction than solitary reading.

“I promised to love, honour and obey my husband, not the brother who throws me at other men to further his nefarious plans.”
“I am doing nothing but simply reclaiming the inheritance that is due to me.”
