You know, I've decided that Hiro basically has two modes: "hyperactive toddler" and "kicked puppy".
That's pretty much it for his character. And, really, it's getting BORING.
Anyway...
So this is the CHARLIE EPISODE, and as such the main plot consists of Hiro trying to save Charlie's life, first from Sylar-ification and then from the aneursym in her brain. Ironically, it was Sylar who got rid of the aneursym, HAH. And there's some angsty stuff from Charlie about how she thinks she's cheating death and why should she get saved and not the other 299,999 people who died the same day as her, and other stuff like that. And, because this is HIRO and CHARLIE we're talking about, so much saccharine cutesy stuff that it made my teeth hurt.
Oh, and there are random bits of Past!Ando, Past!Claire, Past!HRG and his random Primatech girlfriend (yes, seriously), and (WOO) Past!Isaac for all of ten seconds.
This is not to say that there was nothing good about the episode, because there was.
As seems to happen a lot these days, the good scenes all had Samuel in. See, Samuel's made some mistakes in his past (quite a lot, I gather). He'd like to fix them, and wants to use Hiro to do that. But, he had no clue how to convince Hiro to help... so, once Lydia told him about Charlie, he got Arnold the dying timetraveler to send him back three years and totally manipulated Hiro into saving Charlie (while very carefully NOT screwing up the whole spacetime continuum), then kidnapped Charlie and stashed her "somewhere in time", telling Hiro that he could have her back when he'd helped Samuel. Which is actually quite a good idea, really.
What I'm still not sure about is what we saw right at the end of the ep, which was... something that Samuel did eight weeks ago. I'm not sure what he did, but it involved a really rather dead Mohinder.
Yeah, took me by surprise too. I was thinking it would have something to do with Dead Brother Joseph.
Random Stuff
1. Long ago, when Noah Bennet was in high school... he was a drama geek. And wanted to teach highschool English when he grew up.
AND KNOWS AT LEAST PART OF A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM BY HEART.
(...I knew what play he was quoting before he told Claire what it was. Because I, too, am a Shakespeare geek.)
2. Hiro's name for Samuel is "Butterfly Man". And the variant "Evil Butterfly Man", which is a little OTT. Samuel's not EVIl, he's just... a little malevolent.
(Murder? Whatever other bad stuff he's done? ...yeah, still not changing how I feel about him.)
3. RANDOM LOST CONNECTION #1: The motel room where Noah was going to meet his Primatech girlfriend was ROOM 108.
RANDOM LOST CONNECTION #2: Going by IMDb, the dude who's going to be playing Dead Brother Joseph in at least one upcoming episode is Andrew Connolly, who was in at least one episode of Lost.
4. "Haitian" is now a verb. Trufax.
IN CONCLUSION:
MORE SAMUEL PLEASE, WRITERS. *cracks whip*
