OK, so last week, Hiro teleported to Peter's apartment and collapsed. Sometime between that ep and now, Peter has taken him to hospital where people can actually give him medical treatment for that inconvenient brain tumor.
He also introduces Emma to Hiro, right before teleporting out to go see Noah about something. While Pete's gone, Emma gets Abilities 101 from Hiro (...sort of), and it's all very cute and adorable.
(hey, maybe there's another facet to Emma's power, where she automatically makes any sort-of-irritating character seem better just by being around them...)
Everything goes a bit wrong, though, when Hiro teleports again - this time to... the Burnt Toast Diner, about three years ago. What's he doing there?
Saving Charlie.
Now, this is making me irrationally angry. Because seriously, we had this plot already. Many episodes ago. It has been established that, no matter how many times Hiro goes back in time, he isn't going to be able to save Charlie. So, what I'd like to know is are the writers really that desperate for plots that they need to recycle old ideas this OBVIOUSLY? SERIOUSLY?
*deep breath* Annnnndddd, we're back.
Peter, at least, got to be awesome this week. See, the reason he left Hiro with Emma at the hospital is because he thought Noah might know where a person with healing-ability was, and hopped over to see him. There WAS a healer (er... other than Linderman, obviously), some teenager called Jeremy, who I'm sure I saw on Dexter WAY back. Coincidentally, that character was a teenager called Jeremy too.
Slight problem though - Jeremy's ability took an mostly-unexpected twist. Basically, he can kill things with a touch as well as healing things, and after accidentally killing his parents, their bird, and most of their garden, he's having a bit of a crisis of confidence. THAT ends with Peter getting shot, which was an EEP moment initially but at least helped Jeremy get his healermojo back, so that once Peter was fixed he could borrow the healing ability to fix Hiro's tumor. (Complicated, huh?)
This thread was ALSO important for Noah, if only because he got HIS mojo back, and he said something that really made sense to me - that Noah's ability, in a sense, is that he understands... people. And people with abilities, specifically.
I just... quite like the way he worded that.
Samuel's Carnival of Awesome
Well. After the Amazing Teleporting Carnival rescued Sylar from the cops last week, our favourite power-stealing serial killer has been having a few memory issues.
Interestingly, he's remembering Nathan's memories as his own - politician stuff, flying jets in the military. Samuel (somehow, because I've given up trying to explain how Sam does this stuff) knows that those aren't his memories, and sends him to this guy Damien, who's kind of the anti-Haitian - he gives memories back. (I quite liked how they showed that - a zoetrope effect involving a circle of mirrors. It was pretty. Also, I HEARD TICKING.)
Also, seriously, I think maybe Matt's a lot more powerful than he thinks, if there are still bits of Nathan in there even now...
Now that he's got... some of his memories, at least, back... well, Sylar's not terribly HAPPY, because he's just found out that he's a serial killer. Fair enough, really. At this point, Samuel quietly lets him know that the Head Cop who was after him last week is at the carnival RIGHT NOW, and he's RIGHT OVER THERE in the House of Mirrors (And... he's only there because Sam sent him tickets via the Edgar Express. SNEAKY Sam). Thus followed some vague statements along the lines of "well, we're harbouring a criminal now, so we're all in danger while you're here", and Sylar headed off intending to deal with it. Except for the fact that HE COULDN'T GO THROUGH WITH IT.
(Did manage some nice electricity though)
Fortunately (...I guess), Edgar went ZOOM ZOOM and finished off the Head Cop with his crazy knife skillz. I get the feeling that Edgar doesn't like Sylar much... and there's definitely an element of jealousy there.
Oh, and there was an official sort of... ceremony thing to welcome Sylar into the Carnival. For some reason, this ceremony involved a baptism. I... just don't know.
Other:
1. ...Sylar/Lydia, anyone?
2. Samuel really is quite irresistibly hot. Especially when his hair's all messed up like it was at the start of this ep. And the voice.... don't get me started on the voice....
3. Thank the deities, there was nothing relating to that awkward contrived what-the-hell lesbian moment last week. (Actually, there was about three minutes of Claire full stop.)
4. Having consulted the oracle of IMDb... yep, Jeremy WAS on Dexter. Thought so.
5. Needs more Parkman.
6. The Deep Philosophical Thoughts at the start of the ep this week were said by Samuel. You have NO IDEA how happy that made me.
