Psst, spoilers...
OK, so we start out with Sookie in the dress she was wearing last week, back in Hotel Carmilla with Eric. Who's been crying, and quite a lot, too.
...and then she wakes up. Whoops, guess it was another one of those dreams. Where Sookie actually is, is in an Anubis Air car with Jason and Bill (who's in his coffin, it being daytime...), driving back to Bon Temps.
Bon Temps, it transpires, now pretty much resembles a war zone, and it's about here that the cast is divided into two groups that I'm calling Maryann's Minions (random townspeople led by Terry Bellefleur) and the Bon Temps Resistance (Sookie, Bill, Jason, Sam, Andy, Lafayette, with Tara, Hoyt, Jessica and Lettie Mae).
Effectively, we have Sam and Andy, who get trapped in the cold-storage at Merlotte's and are rescued by Jason, armed with a chainsaw and a nailgun. (Anything I ever said about Jason being dumb... well, I meant some of it. Still, at least his Fundie Camp training came in handy for something.) Then Sam just HAD to get all heroic and sacrifice himself (NOT LITERALLY) to the Minions so that Andy and Jason could escape.
Except that they then rescue him BACK by staging the appearance of "god", using only a fireman's oxygen mask, some flares, a dead branch and a spotlight. Mind you, any deity that looks like Shirtless!Jason is FINE by me. The awesome thing, though, was when Fake!God!Jason "smited" Sam, and Sam made it look realistic by... shifting into a fly again.
The looks on Jason's and Andy's faces when he showed up (naked except for a bar apron) was PRICELESS, I tell you. PRICELESS.
Bon Temps Resistance, Division Two is Hoyt and Jessica, who really don't have much to do except stop Maxine Fortenberry (a Minion) getting out of the house.
Also, I suspect the crackiness that is Hoyt/Jessica may be in trouble now. What with the biting and all.
Finally, we have the BTR Divison Three, which starts out as Lafayette and Lettie Mae trying to detox Tara. This is rather less than successful.
Then Bill and Sookie show up, and through a combination of Sookie's telepathy and Bill's glamouring, they manage to de-Minionise Tara. Sighs of relief follow, for about three seconds before Bill realises that Maryann is, in fact, a maenad, and says that QUEEN SOPHIE-ANNE might know how to kill that bitch. He then leaves Sookie to take care of Sam/Jason/Tara/Lafayette, and zooms off to... somewhere with very nasty interior design, which is apparently where Sophie-Anne is hanging out these days.
OTHER STUFF:
a) So, that... uh, sculpture-thing that Maryann&Co were building in Sookie's garden. It probably serves a similar purpose to the platform that Jason was building at Fundie Camp.
b) I am... surprisingly pissed at Maryann for what she did to Sookie's house. Partly because of Gran Stackhouse, I think.
c) Eggs is now a lost cause to me. Dammit.
d) OK, I hate Maryann, and much of her storyline. THIS, though, I liked, because first, it's the buildup to the almighty Maryann-smackdown that'll be coming soon, and second, because of the crack.
e) So... seeing as we were robbed a Godric-Maryann smackdown, can we get a Sophie-Anne V. Maryann smackdown instead? Though at this point I'd settle for Eric V. Maryann...
f) Um. Seeing as Bill went to see Sophie-Anne... OK, yes, I am now *praying* to any god that happens to be listening that we get Bubba. WE NEED BUBBA. NO, SERIOUSLY.
g) Er. The flashy light thing Sookie did. HUH? What the fuck was that? (I am considering that maybe the words "faerie blood" apply here...)
h) Terry was strangely attractive this week....
Also, I loooove the song that played over the credits. Anyone know who sings it/where I can find it?
EDIT: MY GOOGLE-FU HAS PREVAILED.
The song is "New World in my View" by some guy called King Britt. Also, apparently it's on the Miami Vice soundtrack. I wouldn't know about that....
