Remember that game I told you about? Call me.

Sam.

~

“This had better be good, Flynn.”

Sam sighed. “I've got some stuff to tell you...”

“Does it involve you explaining where you disappeared to for two days?”

“...actually, yeah, it does. Can you talk right now?”

“Sure.”

“You know TRON, right?”

“Your dad's game, yeah. Why?”

“It's not just a game. There's a whole world in there, an entire world of programs.... it's amazing. And....”

“What?” Hardison said cautiously.
“Someone came back with me. I think you're going to want to meet her. You're still in Boston, right?”

“Yeah, still here.”

“I'll come to McRory's, OK?”

“Call me when you get here.”

~

Sam walked into McRory's bar and was confronted by a slim blonde girl. He grinned at her. “Uh... hey, Parker, how are you?”

“I'm fine. Hardison's not, though. Because you were gone for two days. You should apologise for that.”

“Uh... I will. I promise. Is he here?”

“Over there,” she gestured at a table in the corner. Sam hurried over.

“Alec?”

Hardison turned around in his chair. “You haven't vanished again, at least.”

“Had an appointment, didn't I? By the way.... I'm sorry for disappearing like that. A lot of stuff happened really fast, I would have called if I could.”

“ 'Sokay. You're forgiven.”

“....can you tell Parker that? She scares me.”

“I'll talk to her. So what's this stuff you have to tell me about?”

Sam pulled out a chair and sat down. “It's kind of a long story...” he started to explain everything that had happened since he got the page directing him to his father's old office. Hardison didn't actually say much, but Sam did notice his eyes getting wider and wider.

“...so, uh, I came back through, and I have the program for TRON, and...”

“And what?”

“...I brought someone back.” Sam called over to a girl sitting at the bar. “Hey, Quorra, come over here...”

The girl walked over. “Did you tell him? Are you sure it's safe?”

“It's OK, Quorra, I trust him. You're safe here.”

Quorra eyed Hardison warily, then sat down next to Sam. “Hello. I'm Quorra.”

“Hey,” Hardison said. “Alec Hardison. I have a feeling that I'm gonna be really glad I met you.”

“Oh, you will be,” Sam added. “See, Quorra's a program, but... she's an isomorphic program. She wasn't created by a user.”

Hardison opened his mouth to reply and shut it again. “She's.... oh my god.”

Sam laughed. “Yeah, that's pretty much the expression I was expecting.”

“She's... shit, man, just by existing she's incredible...”

~

An hour later, Hardison was still talking to a somewhat confused Quorra about the Grid. Sam was standing at the bar and trying to avoid Parker when he felt someone next to him. Looking, he saw Hardison's other friend, Eliot.

“Oh, hey, didn't see you there.”

“How long has this been going on?” Eliot said, indicating the table.

“About an hour. It's getting old.”

“You don't have to work with the guy...”

“What's that supposed to...” Sam stopped when he realised that Eliot had gone again, as quickly as he'd appeared. “Dammit.”
