I had such a wonderful evening in the company of wonderful people, on this cold and rainy night in West Philly. Our friends, Melani and Brian, hosted a Happy Hour to mark the completion of one of their renovation projects at a lovely site across the street from Curio Theatre on Baltimore Avenue. They're hoping to have a restaurant move in downstairs, but the actual event took place on the second floor, where it's easy to imagine setting up house and being quite content. The light must be magnificent, because there are windows on all sides (it's the corner lot and it fills the entire block.) The people who lived in the apartment in the '50s were there and Brian showed them around so they could see all the changes 50 years have wrought and reminisce about the old days. There were also two little girls romping about with a Tinker Bell pin, sprinkling imaginary fairy dust on us and demanding that we raise our legs in response. My hair proved too tempting for little Tink and, with the aid of her helper, she became entangled in my admittedly already tangled locks. Ah, to be young and impulsive!
Afterwards, Julie, Deva and I went to Abbraccio for dessert -- I nearly choked to death on the rich chocolate concoction I ordered. Oh, it was divine... but I discovered that one can o.d. on Divinity. Would I do it again? Absolutely!
I was pleased to discover that Deva is going to be at the wedding Kyle and I are attending next weekend, and we discussed the wild possibilities there are in dressing "creatively formally." We're both thinking... CORSETS!!!!
So ends another glorious night chez Milla... or at Ravensgate Manor... or is it Meadow View Grange...?
