Here there be . . . gargoyles

For any of you out there who are actually following this blog, you may remember I had an experiment going where I recorded the number of words I wrote each day. The idea was that maybe if other people were "watching" the numbers it would motivate me to be more prolific. You may also have noticed that I made note of these numbers for 10 days at the most and haven't done it since. I've been in a serious writing slump lately; I feel like there's some sort of great story or article or rambling inside me just waiting to bubble out, but I can't seem to get myself to sit down and let it pour forth. And this has been the case for weeks. That's the bad news.

The good news is I decided to start doing some research for my current assignment, another article for a children's magazine (which one I have no idea, but hopefully it'll fit into someone's criteria somewhere). Anywho, I've always had a passion for gargoyles, even have a substantially large collection which currently resides in the guest room (keep that in mind if any of you come to visit- but I promise they are very well behaved). I am learning a lot through my research, and it's fun. The most interesting fact may be that I lied; I actually don't own any gargoyles at all. The whole of my collection are grotesques and chimeras since technically these sculptures aren't gargoyles unless they are waterspouts! Go figure!

Anyway, I'm just happy to be on the positive side of things again, and I wanted to share. Although I am rather bummed about the whole waterspout thing . . .
