Illinois has been covered by heavy snow for nearly 3 weeks. Luckily the sun shines almost everyday although the single digit temperature is not friendly at all . With the weather and my belly growing larger *I'm on my 34th week*, it's not so tempting for me to bring Joseph outside. Soo .. here I am .. stuck with a full-of-energy preschooler inside the apt.
There are days that Joseph gets very bored *he goes to school only twice/week* and asks me to play with him. Of course with the house chores it's just impossible for me to give him full attention all the time .... which makes him follow me around the house and talk to me non-stop. Joseph is a chatter box ... even as a baby he was cooing excessively ... as a toddler he babbled non-stop and now as a preschooler he just loves to be heard.
Most of the time he speaks Indonesian to me. However when he gets very excited about something or when he thinks he doesn't get enough response from us, he will just mix Indonesian and French in a sentence. Now with his English getting more active, the mixing becomes more sophisticated ..... and gives me lots of headache on days when I'm very busy. Sometimes he likes to translate what he's saying to the other languages as well ... again especially when he thinks we do not understand or not pay enough attention.
'Mama ... look look mama ... fire truck dans la rue' (fire truck on the road)
'Main sama aku, ma .... could you please jouer with me .. please please' (play with me mama .... could you please play with me)
'Je vais manger kue ... I wanna eat cookie, s'il tu plait'.
He also starts to argue very much ... I think that's normal for his age, but it makes everything more complicated.
Me: Ayo Jo, pake sepatu kita mau keluar (Put on your shoes, we will go out)
Jo: Tidak mama. Aku mau main dulu (No mama, I want to play first)
Me: Jo, jangan membantah. Mama bilang pakai sepatu (Don't argue, I told you to put on your shoes)
Jo: Tidak ... aku bilang aku mau main dulu (No .. I said I want to play first)
Me: Sekali lagi mama bilang, pakai sepatu (I tell you one more time to put on your shoes)
Jo: Tidak .. aku bilang aku mau maiiiin (No .. I said I want to play)
Me: Kalau kamu tidak pakai sepatu, kamu masuk kamar sekarang, tidur saja (If you don't put on your shoes, go to your room now and sleep)
Jo: Nooooo ..... aku mau pake sepatu, I wanna my shoes ... Je veux mes chausseures!!
I'm looking forward to a nicer weather outside :D.
