wild at heart?

By 7:30 this morning, I was outside planting shrubs. I remember unlocking the back door as well as the front, because I am paranoid that I'm going to get locked out of the house. I don't recall actually opening the back door, and I pulled the front door shut when I went outside.

I went in and out a few times as I gathered up the various needed tools and implements that never seem to be in the same place at the same time.

At one point, I went out the front door to discover Mange Cat (aka Old Yellow Eyes) standing on the sidewalk. (S)he quickly ran away into a neighbor's yard. (I don't know if I've written about Mange Cat before. This cat has been hanging around for several years, but I only spot him once every few months. One time, I came home from work to find him taking a nap on our front porch. I'm sure he probably doesn't have mange, and even if he did, I wouldn't know what it looked like. I call him that as a joke, because my aunt pretty much assumes that all outside animals have mange. Anyway.)

So, the next time I went inside, I heard a banging, rattling sound that I'd come to recognize as Liriel frantically trying to push herself out the blinds because she sees something on the back deck that she wants. The last time I saw this, there was a large fluffy cat sitting right outside the back door, which pretty much sent Liriel into a blind rage. I assumed that Mange Cat had made his way to the back deck. I looked out the window. Shockingly, I saw Vader!

Or was it a hence unseen stray cat that looked exactly like Vader? I cracked open the back door and called to him. And then he hissed at me. Surely, that couldn't be my sweet Vader-man. I closed the back door and ran upstairs calling his name. No dice. Back downstairs, I stared out the window again. It had to be him. I pushed Liriel out of the way, opened the door, and called to him again. He walked right in.

The cats spent the next half an hour standing three feet apart hissing at each other. I don't have the faintest idea how Vader got outside, and I really hope that he didn't catch mange.
