A Primate's Memoir by Robert Sapolsky
I read this last Sunday for book club. It is essentially the story of a research scientist who spent twenty years, off and on, living near a baboon tribe. All of the stories he related about the baboons and their interactions were fascinating. I was less interesting in the stories about his interactions with the local people. I think I just had myself convinced that the entire book was going to be about baboons, and then I'd be like 'hey, what are these people doing in here?' It was perhaps not the best choice for a book club book, as our conversations about it mainly consisted of saying what we liked about the book. There wasn't a lot that stimulated real discussion, at least not for my group.
