An update from the weekend:
Time was tight on Saturday. I wanted to get some sleep in if I was to be driving all night to NJ, then camping the line or accosting some little kid with a Klingon forehead for his autographed tickets. While not really sleeping much during the day, I decided to just pound some caffeinated beverages and pray for the best. Micaela and Krista were to meet me at my house somewhere around 1AM and then the NJ Trek 2k8 was to commence.
Driving Kara home around 9, my car started to do something strange (as it always does). The car was misfiring badly and the CEL came on. Since I was taking my car to NJ, this was obviously cause for concern. I popped the hood to see fireworks. Sparks were comming from the coil which had cracked in 2 different places, not allowing for those cylinders to fire correctly. This issue only arises when it was wet out, seeing as that it what causes the damage. "No problem" I think as I zip to Home Depot and pick up some epoxy to reseal the damage (a common practice among VW owners). I quickly head over to Kos's house to use Bucky's tools seeing as mine are in Ayer to be used on another car that does not run. Since the problem fixes itself (works properly) once the cars warms and evaporated all of the water from the bay) I had to get a water sprayer and try and recreate the sparking condition so I would know which area to repair since the cracks are microscopic.
This is when things go haywire. I brush the coolant line nonchalantly and it erupts, sending scolding hot coolant all over my clothes and my hands. While my immediate reaction was a bit of pain, once it sank in that this just totally blew my chances of seeing Patrick Stewart and attending something I had been looking forward to for quite some time was completely depressing. Unfortunately no other cars were available for the trip, therefore it was canceled.
I couldn't help but think that there was someone out there laughing at me from above. Some sick joke perhaps? To you, I say: Fuck Off.
Now I am stuck without a car temporarily (which is alright since I take the train to work) and need to spend a couple hundred dollars in parts and a few nights to fix my once again dysfunctional GTi. What luck.
