When Sebastian's power had pulled her back to the church, Raven found herself quickly bound to a tilted stone wall beneath the church, leaning over a pool of blood, the very one she'd been resurrected in. More blood dripped from the ceiling, both from sacrifice and the willing donation of Brother Blood's followers. It sickened her, but she didn't have the strength to try to teleport again.
She'd been so close. She'd wait and regain her strength and try to escape again. She had to get back to Fandom. The looks on her friend's faces when they saw her -- how long had she been gone? What did they think of her now? She had to apologize for how she'd hurt them....and stop Sebastian from succeeding with his plans for her and unleashing hell on Earth.
Sebastian
Sebastian was watching her, an older woman at his side, his followers clustered behind them. "She's beautiful," he said.
His adoration made her stomach turn.
Mother Mayhem
This woman was one of many to bear the title of Mother Mayhem, though she'd been granted it after the mysterious death of Sebastian's father -- if one could call a "boating accident" where the recovered body had born dozens of viscous stab wounds "mysterious." She'd been a member of the church for several years, but recently her convictions about serving a vampire and the demon he worshiped had begun to falter, and she expressed those doubts now.
"Yes, but the stench of sin is still upon her, Sebastian," she said hesitantly. "The sins of the Eighth Devil. They leak through your sister and bride despite his destruction, despite her baptism and rebirth. The spawn of Trigon will never be completely free from her father's influence as long as she is bound to Earth...."
Sebastian
"Hush, Mother," Sebastian said, shooting her a dark look. "Before I relieve you of your tongue."
He stepped forward into the pool, not caring about the blood that now dripped on him. "Her flesh will save the world," he said, reaching out a hand to cup her cheek.
Raven
Raven jerked her head away as much as she could despite her restraints. "Do not touch me!" she cried. She feverishly concentrating on her fragile shields, trying to protect her mind from his power.
He ignored her protest, murmuring her name like a prayer. Leaning in closer, he pressed his lips to her chakra. Raven twisted her head away again, sickened by the violation of such an intimate touch, but he caught her face in his hands and held her fast while he kissed her. "
No more running," he said, then his teeth were in her flesh and tearing the chakra from her forehead.
Raven screamed. It was more than just physical pain, she felt it in her soul as the focus of her power was ripped away. The shielding she'd relearned failed, and the emotions of Sebastian and all his followers slammed brutally into her, binding her once more to them.
Sebastian
"One taste of your blood and my powers grow," Sebastian said, spitting the chakra out into his hand. He grinned at Mother Mayhem. "If you have faith, you can get blood from a stone. You taught me that, Mother."
He looked back at Raven and sighed, untroubled by how she writhed in pain and fear as blood poured down her face. "Isn't she magnificent?"
Mother Mayhem
"There's something wrong with her, Sebastian," Mother said, trying to reason with the boy one last time. "You need to stop this."
Sebastian
"Prophecy says otherwise, Mother," Sebastian said. He pulled a cord from a pocket and wound it around the stone, then looped it around his neck. "The ceremony will continue. She will be my bride, and judgment will come."
Mother Mayhem
"But...the book said...." she tried to protest. This was all spiraling out of control. They weren't going to save the world, they were going to end it, and she couldn't let that happen.
Sebastian
"Don't question me, Mother," Sebastian growled.
Mother Mayhem
"I...I am not your mother," she snapped. "You'll destroy us all, you psychotic brat!"
Sebastian
Sebastian snarled and whirled around, grabbing hold of Mother Mayhem. "I see through your lies!" he said. "You are not my mother!" The woman screamed and struggled to break free, but his strength was too much, and he pushed her down and sank his teeth into her neck.
When he'd finished drinking, he turned to his followers, who had watched quietly. "Her flesh and blood has been consumed. She will live on inside me." He searched the faces before him and singled out one woman, pointing to her. "You'll be my mother now," he said.
The woman stepped forward obediently. "Yes, Brother Blood," she said as she knelt before him. "Yes, my son."
Raven
Raven had stopped screaming. Dazed with pain and overwhelmed with the rush of emotions, still bound to the wall, she could only watch and wait for Sebastian's bidding. But her soul was still howling with rage, fighting its confinement. It splintered, pieces flying out in a desperate attempt to carry a message.
Help me.
Raven belongs to Brother Blood.
