Raven teleported herself atop a building that overlooked her former friends, watching over them as they laid upon the ground, bodies thrashing as they fought against their darkest fears. She smiled and drank it all in, savoring their suffering. Soon they would be hers. Soon they would serve her father. ( Just as she did, they would have no choice. )

Mutie. Genejoke. Freak.

The words that had taunted him ever since his powers had manifested, years ago.

No matter what he did, no matter how many lives he saved... still he was looked upon with fear and derision. As less than human.

And then, one day, in the midst of yet another anti-mutant riot, something had snapped. He'd caught the gaze of the idiot who'd dared to throw a rock- a rock!- at his head, and without even really thinking about what he was doing, froze the man's blood solid in his veins. In all the chaos and confusion, no one else had witnessed what he'd done. But he knew.

And he didn't regret it.

Now he stood taller than the tallest building in New York, surveying his domain. It really hadn't taken much work at all, to spread his ice out until it encased the world. Not long after that, life on the planet had withered and died, unable to survive the extreme cold. The humans had tried to erase his kind from existence, and instead now they were gone.

It was perfect. Silent. Frozen.

His.

"No," Bobby shook his head as he looked up at- well, himself. "Thor warned me about this. And I've been careful, so careful, not to push my powers past their limit."

"Fool!" the ice-giant laughed at his former self. "Limits! The only ones you have are of your own making, born of your own fears! Let go of them, and embrace your true potential!" he cackled as he sent a column of ice in the direction of his former self.

"I won't!" Bobby shouted- screamed, really- as he made no move to block it. The ice didn’t hurt him as it connected, absorbing itself harmlessly into his being until he stood face to face with the ice giant. "You can't make me!"

"I don't have to make you do anything!" the ice-giant replied, a cruel smirk playing at the corner of his ice-carved lips. "It will happen, no matter how much you try to hold yourself back."

And oh god oh god oh god he was right the cold was there, within him, building and building until there was nothing he could do but let it go and watch as it shattered the ice-giant.

No, not the giant. Himself.
