Goronn
The sky turned black with smoke-like clouds, and two huge sets of burning red eyes peered down from above. Laughter roared like thunder, and lightning struck, tearing a hole in the air, through which crawled a reddish demon as large as five men. Its hands and feet ended in sharp claws, its mouth was filled with huge yellow teeth, and its tail ended in a spiked-club like some kind of demented dinosaur. It seized hold of Raven. "Ahh, little one, come and make Goronn a tasty meal," it cackled. "I hunger, dear Raven, I hunger for you!"
trigons_child Raven struggled in the demon's grasp, trying to free herself. She knew this demon and its strength, and she knew they were going to need help against it and any others that came through the rift. It was nullifying her own ability to teleport herself, no doubt some attempt by her father to bind her physically there, but not her Soul-Self, so she sent it rising from her body and into the air, where it disappeared.
glacial_witch "Oh, Hell's Fire, Mother Night, and may the Darkness be fucking merciful," Karla snapped, quite clearly Not Best Pleased. "First them now this? What's next? Is Sebastian going to show up, too? Uncle Hobart? The entirety of the Dark Council?"
She deliberately did not say Trigon. No point in tempting fate, as it were.
trigons_child Raven knew her father wouldn't be far behind. He always sent Goronn ahead to clear his way. "Karla, kept away from it," she called out. "It will try to tear you apart!" Just in case she hadn't already figured that obvious part out.
glacial_witch "Shielded!" Karla yelled back, but keeping her distance all the same. She hadn't forgotten the male back in Mat's world that that been able to shrug off magic and physical attacks with equal ease.
Though, now was a good time to test its defenses. She flung a bolt of Sapphire power at the creature's ankle. Hopefully it would be much like Achilles in the book they read in Drake's class?
Goronn
Goronn roared as it tripped and fell to the ground, releasing its hold on Raven in the process. Raven scrambled to safety, and as the demon struggled to rise, it lashed out with its tail at Karla.
glacial_witch The problem with Craft was that it only ignored the natural laws of the universe under very specific occasions. Of course, this was not one of those occasions. So, Goronn lashed his tail at Karla and Karla went flying through the air. Her shields protected her from taking any harm--and she hoped that whacking his tail into her shields had fractured something or at least hurt like a bitch--even as she fetched up against one of the rocks dotting the landscape.
"Bastard," she muttered, standing up. "I am so going to figure out how to embed my shields into the ground or something." And then she was on her way again, darting across the air to continue harrying the creature.
sith_happened Anakin was being a Very Bad Chaperone and teaching anyone near him really unflattering terms in Huttese.
It ended with something that sounded very whiny: "Really? Really?"
Goronn
Later, Raven might apologize to Anakin for the things her canon produced, but for now, Goronn lumbered at Anakin. "Mmm, more meat," it growled.
sith_happened "Oh, the hell we are," he snapped, whipping out his lightsaber NOT DIRTY and aiming the blade at Goronn's nearest appendage.
Goronn
The lightsaber left a score mark on the demon's thick flesh, and Goronn roared in pain. "You will pay for that," it growled, swiping at Anakin with one clawed hand.
sith_happened Anakin drew on the Force to move faster than the demon could, ducking under the hand and slicing the lightsaber up into the palm as it past over him.
Anakin had no rules about fighting fair.
weetuskenraider "Really?" Tahiri asked, after a string of snarled curses in Yuuzhan Vong. "Sithspit, I knew it wasn't going to be boring and over in an hour."
Her lightsaber was off her belt and in her hand now, but not powered on yet.
Goronn
Goronn saw the wee tiny blonde as easy prey. It opened its mouth and snapped at her, intending to bite her in two.
weetuskenraider "Oh. Yes, you do have teeth, I see. Thanks for answering that," Tahiri told Goronn, springing easily to one side with Force-aided reflexes. Mid-leap, she thumbed her lightsaber on with the familiar (well, maybe not to the demon) snap-hiss and twisted in the air, bringing the ice-blue blade around in a sharp arc at Goronn's midsection.
Goronn
The blow left an ugly black mark on Goronn's hide and made the demon snarl in pain, but he twisted around, trying to swat Tahiri like an annoying bug.
weetuskenraider HEY. THE BUG BOOKS AREN'T SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN FOR FIVE YEARS.
"What the kriff?" Tahiri reached out in the Force and exerted a sharp tug on Goronn himself, altering her trajectory to land within reach, but her surprise at the demon's surprisingly lightsaber-resistant hide slowed her reaction enough that she ended up with a nice long gash all down one leg.
Sometimes it was convenient being half Yuuzhan Vong; she drew the pain into herself, particularly once she landed on that leg, and slashed out twice as hard with her blade at the offending appendage.
furnaceface //Oh, bloody wonderful,// Jono grumped, looking up at the demon more than a little grumpily. //The Jolly Green Giant has an evil twin.//
At least he hadn't bothered to pull his bandages back on after his go-round with Batman. Which meant that, instead of bothering with too much more cranky quipping, he was going to just direct a psionic blast at the demon's chest. Not the strongest he could manage, no. He didn't think anybody here would be too keen on carrying him home after this, but he'd push himself if it looked as though they weren't making any leeway.
Goronn
Goronn tumbled backwards, howling in pain. "That hurt," it snarled, picking itself back up. It opened up its mouth and breathed fire at Jono.
furnaceface /Yes, that was rather the--// Excuse Jono for a moment, here was where he had to hit the ground in a duck and roll. Even his own flame slowly burned away at him, he wasn't in any great hurry to find out what some demon's bad breath could do to what was left of his body. //--Point, mate.//
Back on his feet again, he was going to fire another blast, just slightly stronger. Even if all he could accomplish was being a general annoyance, with any luck he'd be able to hold Goronn's attention long enough for somebody else to deal some more substantial damage.
blondecanary Dinah let loose with another sonic scream, and wished like hell that the older her had stuck around to help. Jeeeeez.
glacial_witch Karla winced, rubbing her ear a bit, grateful that she was on Dinah's side and not directly in the blast zone. "Cool," she said, slanting Dinah a grin even as she sent a series of blasts in Goronn's direction. "I'm starting to understand the whole 'taking down a building' aspect of your powers."
Goronn
Goronn clutched its hands to its ears, roaring in pain. It didn't like that sonic scream, so it let loose with a blast of fire from its mouth, intending to burn the annoyance to a crisp.
blondecanary Dinah paused for breath, bending over to gather herself, and sent Karla small grin. "Yeah. It shouldn't even work. But it does. I think for once I'm glad I can do this kind of thing... Go for the knees? On two?"
Or, you know, "Or one!"
As Dinah rolled the heck out of the way of that, aaaaaah!
glacial_witch Karla skittered up the air backwards trying to get out of the way of the flames. "That's just not fair!" she cried out. "Only our side gets a crazy arsenal of weapons!"
Keep telling yourself that, sweetheart.
"Dinah, you okay?"
blondecanary "A little crispy, but all parts in working order," Dinah said breathlessly, feeling the near-burn from the close contact with the fire along one side. "You're okay, right?"
She glared at Goronn, and just for that trick, lashed out at the ground beneath his feet, sending a spray of rock and dust upward. "The bigger they are--" Someone else's turn to fall over, damnit!
glacial_witch "Warmer than I'd like," Karla said, off-handedly, liking where Dinah was going with her treatment of Goronn. "The harder they fall!" she finished, blasting at the back of Goronn's knees.
brat_intraining Blame it on annoyance, overenthusiasm because hello there actual demon, sheer freaking exuberance, lack of common sense, whatever you wanted to-- Kennedy hefted her sword in both hands and charged in at Goronn the first second she had a clear shot, yelling and hacking with all the force her tiny frame could muster.
It lacked major, major points for finesse and technique, but she was sort of gambling on the element of surprise here: let's face it, it was kind of insane.
Goronn
Goronn barely spared the girl a glance. It lashed out with its tail, smacking the clubbed end into Kennedy.
brat_intraining Hey. Hey, she was totally worth a double-take at the least here!
She was--
Getting the wind knocked out of her by a pissed-off god or at least a really angry troll, was what it felt like, so fast she didn't even have time to yell. The sword clattered to the ground and Kennedy, kind of wondering if that was what her ribs had sounded like on impact, went skidding the other way.
Okay, ow, and once again getting up wasn't happening any time soon. God dammit.
...plus side, she was still conscious. Sort of a plus.
life_inshadow Working as quickly as she could, Tara threw up a magical barrier. It took all of her concentration, but she thought it would hold for at least a few minutes.
That was all they'd need, right?
She found her voice. "Anybody want to get behind me?"
brat_intraining "Me, for a minute?" Kennedy'd managed to pick herself up off the ground, and made her way a little shakily toward Tara, wiping blood off her lip where she'd bitten it when she got demon-tail-whomped. Quickly (and perhaps predictably) she added, "I'm fine-- just a little shaken up."
And annoyed by the loss of her sword, but that was lower on the priority list.
life_inshadow Tara turned away; the shield wavered for a second as she lost her concentration, but quickly came back. "Blood," she gasped. "You -- you're bleeding."
She took some deep breaths, trying to expel her fear. "But you're okay?"
She ... didn't quite manage to make it sound as confident as she wanted it to.
brat_intraining "No big," Kennedy answered stubbornly. "Just need a second to get my breath back." And then... go charging at the giant demon with her bare hands? She'd think of something.
joan_notjane Joan had tried her best to stay out of the way when the fighting started but once things seemed to settle a bit, she rushed to Raven's side.
"Raven? Are you okay? What can I do?"
trigons_child "I am sorry I have put you in danger, Joan," Raven said, dismay plain on her face. "I did truly did not think my father would succeed here, or I would not have let you come. But I have sent my Soul-Self back to Fandom for help; I fear we will need more than the power here to defeat Goronn." Her friends were doing some serious damage to the demon, but its tough hide was making it extremely difficult. Fortunately, she had an idea of Goronn's weakness; it was just a matter of getting the help they needed here in time.
