I am so, so bad at updating and posting regularly. Hrm.
Work has been crazy busy lately and have started delivering to a couple different cities. Which, considering the economy? Is cool and a damn good thing. But am sooooooooo tiiiiiiiiiired. I had just over a 100 hrs for a two week period on my last paycheck.
o.O
No wonder I'm tired, eh?
Plus...I'm now working on Fridays, delivering to Albany. So no roping that day; I thought I could handle it okay. Hahaha! *cries*
What made me think that, I have no idea. It's also really weird to adjust to working five days a week after only working four the last couple years. Because of all the new stores, there are the two new routes, both of which I have, and one of my days have been changed around. Some of those stops I still have but on another day and the other driver took the rest. So hopefully, my Friday stops can be moved to Tuesday, though no idea how soon we'll try and arrange that.
This is me crossing my fingers it's soonish, so I can rope more than once a week. hee!
Sunday's we're still riding in the morning so my sister can join us, but late morning quite a few guys have been coming to practice bull dogging (steer wrestling is the official name). S, one of the guys, learned to bull dog here at Papa's when he was in high school (he was a couple years ahead of me in school). He's helping Papa out with his horses as well and doing a good job, he also really likes how Tuffy is patterned, which is particularly cool considering I've done most of that. Feels good anyway.
The first day ended up being a little short on horses/horse power and ended up using mine to try and bull dog off of, which Senor had never done before. He did good enough we ran him by some steers last Saturday, but then one group of the guys had to cancel so we didn't use him for that.
However, last Sunday, Papa had been hazing (keeps the steer straight for the bull dogger) on his horse Checkers and the horse needed a break. So Papa had S get on my horse and haze - Senor had never done that either. I've hazed for team roping, but you don't get as high or tight as it's needed to be done in the bull dogging.
S was impressed with my horse. He had no idea just how fast he was (overall) or how quick (sudden acceleration) Senor is with that speed.
I think it's a combination of:
1) me being a girl. Yeah, girls can rope and he knows this - he's seen it. He's seen me. But still - there is a perception there of....people automatically think a horse is 'nice' if a woman is riding it. Not a super horse. Not a great horse. Not a top notch athlete. They also don't ever suspect he's a bit of a bronc either. Except for those that have seen him buck me off. LOL
2) the way my horse walks in general and walks back to the box especially. He just meanders and is in no hurry. Not refusing, just slow. He takes baby steps. He also jogs really, really slow - I don't even need to post. He just doesn't go fast enough to bounce you, it's more of a shuffle.
Anyway, I'm thinking of selling him. Not needing to, not even really wanting to especially. But - if someone wants to pay me enough? I wont turn it down.
And Papa told S that today and apparent S asked 'why? why would she want to sell him!?' Hee!
Papa told him it's because her grandfather keeps telling her to so I can train one all over again. Which is true - but this time I'd like one that doesn't have buck in him. Hahaha! I've gotten used to it with Senor - know what to do to prevent it and not scared of him or anything, but it is a bit of a pain. And I kind of miss just being able to get on, rather than having taking time to lunge him and stuff.
senor,
